NHL Schedules Bruins Game at Fenway Park: The Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers will play at Fenway Park on Jan. 1, the fourth Winter Classic that brings the sport outdoors for a day.
With just Brian Boucher and Ray Emery on the Flyers' roster, a trade might be needed.

MeatSaber: I didn't realize that - that's really weird.

A picture here of the proposed ice layout. It looks to me like there will be a lot of really bad seats for this one. While Gillette Stadium is out of the question because of NFL playoff possibilities for the Patriots, Harvard Stadium would have made a much better venue from a spectator's standpoint. OK, Fenway has tradition going for it, but really that's all.

Bad seats at Fenway? Surely you jest. This was my view last week. I'd been wondering how they could lay the ice in there and still keep the majority of seats viable.

fabulon,
I only knew that because Mike Babcock said before the game that Osgood was scheduled to start, but Conklin was riding a hot streak, so he wanted to reward him with that start. He said he wasn't aware Conk had played in the other two until after he made that decision...
One other bit of trivia, cuz I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff...
The first game between the Oilers and Habs was called the Heritage Classic. The three subsequent games have been dubbed the Winter Classic. Dunno why the name change, but since the change, the winner of that game has lost the Stanley Cup Finals that season. Now granted, there's only been 2 so far, so we'll have to wait till June to see if that trend continues...

Barring a mid-season trade, this will be the first Winter Classic not to feature Ty Conklin in goal. He played for the Oilers, Penguins, and Red Wings in the previous 3, but signed with the Blues this off-season...
