Stanley Cup Playoffs Pick'em Round 2 Standings: Down to the Conference Finals. Get your picks in...

Here's the standings after round 2:

1) MeatSaber and garfield - 21 pts

2) Howard_T and NoMich - 18 pts

3) holden and MrFrisby - 17 pts

4) Ying Yang Mafia - 15 pts

5) littleLebowski - 14 pts (with no 2nd round picks, no less)

6) BoKnows - 13 pts

7) 86 - 12 pts

8) tommytrump - 8 pts (I was rooting for Boston to win tonight, to erase the shutout for ya...)

Same rules still apply, 2 for winning team, 1 for # of games. Also, picks must be in before the drop of the puck in the first game.

I want to institute an extra in the Finals, for guessing the Conn Smythe winner, so give me your thoughts on how many points you think that should be worth. I was thinking and extra 5, but your opinions are appreciated...

Could a rematch of last year's finals really happen? When was the last time that happened? It would be great way to end a great Playoffs.

Battle for Central Dominance - Hard to argue with Wings. 4-2 in the regular season, with the only two losses coming after home-ice was sewn up. Wings in 5. Should go 2 Ws at home, split the trip to Chi-town, and finish in 5.

Pens v Canes - Sounds like a CIA memo heading. This is intriguing based on regular season match ups, as the Pens won twice in '08 while they were still playing like crap, and the Canes won twice down the stretch when both teams were peaking. Ward makes this pick iffy, but Pens will take it in 6.

3pts is cool with me for the Conn Smythe pick.

The two wins for the Pens during the regular season came against the Hurricanes' back-up goalie, Mike Leighton.

It appears that in 82-83, the Islanders beat the Oilers for the Cup. One year later (83-84 season), the Oilers returned the favor. At least that's the most recent one I see from this list.

That was the last time. The Devils and Ducks have played in the Finals twice, but not consecutive years.

Man, I wanted Boston to win, just for a chance for an Original 6 Finals. Last time that happened was 30 years ago...

And tommy, I think I speak for Wings fans everywhere when I say thank you for picking the Blackhawks... =D

Through my tears I will make my picks.

Pittsburgh over Carolina in 6: The NHL truly wants a "showcase" player, and Crosby fits the role nicely.

Detroit over Chicago in 7: Wings are hitting their stride at the right time, and seem to play a little better every game. Blackhawks will not lay down for them, and this is a great rivalry from the historic standpoint.

Scott Walker has just joined Bucky Dent and David Tyree on the "Post Office Wall" of Boston sports criminals. AAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH

Detroit in 6 (Being a Blues fan, I feel like I am sinning by picking either team in the West. But need not worry, neither team will win the cup :)

Pittsburgh in 6 (And I'll take Pittsburgh to win the Cup (in 7) - yes, that is an early pick, mark it down)

3 points for Conn Smythe is cool, but that won't make up much ground for me, so how about 5.

Whatever. Wardo saw it coming the whole way and not only that he knew it was a fight. I love Aaron Ward to death, I really do, but the dude is a champion shit talker. He knows when the gloves are gonna come off when he opens his yap.

As far as Caniac Nation is concerned, Scott Walker is gold. The guy's career was pretty much over with a Matt Cook elbow to the head earlier this season and suffered under some really dark days. But old boy pulled through and scored his first ever playoff goal. And I'm so fucking happy that it was him that scored the series winner.

I don't think so. Devils have beaten the Red Wings, Stars, and Ducks, and lost to the Avalanche.

Yeah, chalk that up to old age. Had a mental image of the 07 Finals, saw black and red unis on one side...like I'm supposed to remember the Senators actually made it past the first round once... =D

In that light, totally forgivable!
