Thievery: Jayson Werth is a klepto. (Video here)
I was loving this earlier today. Had a nasty day today and this came up on the home page screen and I checked it out right away. Made the day a lot better.
I can't remember - there was also a double steal mixed in there somewhere right? So much the better if so.
I'm a sideline Phils admirer but not a true fan. I loved that this was a day game and you could check out the reactions of the fans in the stands when he swiped home. Kind of an old school feel with the daylight - midweek game - and the fans feeling proud of their team and their town all over again. The general vibe: "Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!"

Oh shit I blew it. It was a night game. Who cares - still great. Poor LA - first they get hit with the Mannybanish, then this. Tough week.

Werth did this off the team of Jackie Robinson. Damn.

Also the team of Maury Wills. Double damn.

I would have scored the steal of third as a steal. While Martin did not make an attempt to throw him out, I think the game situation (2 run game in 7th inning, 2 outs) needs to be taken into account such that this would not be defensive indifference. Pretty impressive steal of home.

Right. The steal of third was less a case of "Indifference" than it was a case of "Hopelessness".
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, steals of home.

This is fabulous. Its one of those "if you love baseball, you have to love this" events.

Love it, and I am mostly indifferent to baseball. Russell Martin (the catcher) looked about ready to cry.

Love it. Love it more that Werth is on both of my fantasy teams.

There's been three steals of home this season so far. What's the record for an entire season?

The steal of home was fantastic. Great timing.

I don't think I've ever seen a steal of home after the catcher throws the ball back to the pitcher. That was awesome!

Huh, I wouldn't have scored that a steal of third base, but it's pretty impressive nonetheless.
