Updated Fantasy Euro 2008 standings : I'm a little late on this, but I thought I'd post this before the semifinals start tomorrow. [More Inside]

Less than 70 points separate the top team, AFC Holden, from the bottom, turker team. I'd post a full table, but I don't have the technical chops to make it work right, so clicky the linky to see the standings.

Thanks trox. Any picks for the Finals? I'm going Russia v Germany.

Up until this last round of games, I was picking a Netherlands/Portugal final... oops. As much as I'd like to see the Turks advance to continue their run, I can't see them overcoming the Germans with almost half their team suspended or injured. Russia v. Spain is a harder call. It's the tournament's early golden boy, Villa, versus what have you done for me lately, Arshavin. This should be a nice game of attacking football. I'm tipping Spain since they got over their Italian mental block in the quarters. As for the final? Espana!

From what I've seen Spain should take it because the RussD can be disorganized at times. If Pavlychenko(sp?) converts early, which is entirely likely, Russia may sit back a bit, exposing said D, and that could spell doom. But if Russia pushes the attack for at least the first 60, they might pull it out. Spain needs to bring Fabregas on earlier because the Russians are a physical bunch in the midfield, are were able to bully the Nederlanders. (sniff, sniff). And with a few slick passes behind the 18, Villa and Torres should bury at least 2, maybe 3. 3-1 Spain is my greedy neutral prediction, despite the fact the Russians looks like they are playing hockey out there on the counter. As for Turkey, there is no way they get past the Germans. Simply no way. This has been my first full on Euro watching experience, and it has thoroughly distracted me from my main preoccupation, for which I am eternally grateful. Oh, and a slight side note, the Spain Italy match was horrendously called. The Italians get away with murder. Perhaps because of their defensive reputation they recieve a large benefit of the doubt, but that quarterfinal should've been 2-0 at the half on penalties alone.

Germany 3 - 0 Turkey Spain 2- 1 Russia Spain 1 - 0 Gemany (after the 30 minute overtime on PK's) Should be fun to watch and if Im right Im gonna learn how to gamble with real money.

Oh...and I'm picking Germany to win it all.

Oh, you crazy Turks, you fashioners of improbable victories, pull one more miracle out of your magic shoes.

I'll second wk2002, though I can't really believe it once my brain gets involved.

I thought the miracle might have begun early when Turkey went one up. But now, Germany is 2-1 up, with 11 minutes left. Curses!

Awesome run by the Turks and how the F can the game feed be lost three separate, lengthy times during a single game in this technological age?!?! The Dutch, my choice to win it all, got run off anyway by changing from the style of play that won all three group games to something resembling a dead mule. As for the fantasy league I should have paid more attention. Oh well.

Fuck. I forgot all about this thing after I initially picked my players. Sorry for being non-competitive...

Congratulations to Spain. They are deserving champions.

Nice job FC-KFC. Spain did a fine job as well, but I feel robbed out of my Portugal-Holland final.
