CFL Pick 'Em, Week 16: MrFrisby continues to run away with the top spot. Fortunately, Costanza competition is heating up. Make your picks inside.

Toronto proves it can still be a favourite, B.C. makes things tough for Calgary, and Saskatchewan gets a boost over Hamilton. Meanwhile, in Calgary, the return of Henry Burris spurred on the big upset of the week.

Another nailed spread for MrFrisby means another nail in the coffin for the rest of us. YYM comes up with a six-point week to stand alone as the only viable challenger to first place, and even he has ten points to make up in three weeks.

With only eight teams in the league, I guess you tend to have a lot of home-and-homes. WEEK 17 Calgary @ Winnipeg (Friday, October 19) Short week for both teams—they matched up just last Sunday. Winnipeg has to figure out how to turn itself around in a hurry, with a charging Toronto team getting closing in the rear-view mirror. Toronto @ Montreal (Saturday, October 20) A Toronto win not only clinches a playoff spot for the team, but also leapfrogs them over Winnipeg into the top spot in the East. Montreal's a tough place to do that sort of thing, though. Edmonton @ BC (Saturday, October 20) Dave Dickenson dressed last week and could play this week. The Lions seem to be getting the right people back at the right time. Hamilton @ Saskatchewan (Sunday, October 21) Saskatchewan still has a chance at the top spot in the West, but they're going to have to (a) run the table, and (b) root for Edmonton for it to work out. Good luck!

Last week I may have been a little harsh on Winnipeg. But that was Venetian Snares, not me. Winnipeg by 5. Perhaps a lighter story is in order to make up for it. I didn't know this before, but Winnie the Pooh was indirectly named after Winnipeg. Toronto by 12. A Canadian black bear named Winnie (after the city) was given to Regents Park Zoo in London during WWI. She was the mascot for the Canadian Mountain Rifles, who were not allowed to take her to France. BC by 15. She was very popular with Londoners, and A.A. Milne used her first name for his children's book character. Saskatchewan by 21. And 'Pooh' from the fact that Winnipeg is still a frozen shithole.

Winnipeg by 7 Montreal by 14 Edmonton by 2 Saskatchewan by 7 That's only the second time I've gotten all four winners right, last time was week 2. Which, coincidently is tied for the most points I've gotten in a week at 5. Hopefully this week I'll actually pick Edmonton right for once.

While it may look like Calgary has really turned things on as of late, the Bombers are a better football club than they showed last week. Winnipeg by 5 at home. PointSpread has the Als picked by 2.5 at home, but I dunno ... I guess they do need a win pretty bad. Nah, Argos steal this one from 'em and continue their run. Toronto by 3. I don't know why, but I think this one might be the game of the week as far as excitement goes. Guess that's my never-ending faith that the EE will rise from these ashes at some point. The D looked really good last week I thought. Some faces in the lineup might be fightin' for a future with the team/in the league. So I think they'll put on a show. However, BC at home ... and the way things are going this year ... the Lions just might hold on to this one too. In a nailbiter, BC by 1. Ho-hum ... a win does nothing for the Tabbies really ... but momentum is gonna be everything for the Riders. Saskatchewan by 16.
