CFL Pick 'Em, Week 14: Two rare occurrences last week: Hamilton wins, and MrFrisby scores fewer than three points. Do either have any effect on the long term? No. Nonetheless, make your picks inside.

Better, better! Hamilton finally comes through, with a big home win over a suddenly struggling Calgary. B.C. shows their pedigree with a big comeback win over Saskatchewan, Edmonton guts it out on the road in a tight one, and a hot fourth quarter makes the score much more respectable for Winnipeg—but that was Toronto's game all the way.

MrFrisby had a rare off-week this week, giving us second-placers a chance to get to within... six points. Is this season over yet?

September Saturday triple-headers = a good time had by all. WEEK 14 Toronto @ Edmonton (Friday, September 28) How many Grey Cups of the past few years have featured epic rushing battles between Robert Edwards and Troy Davis? Well, one. But both guys are playing for the Argos now. Montreal @ Saskatchewan (Saturday, September 29) Intriguing: both teams are coming off tough losses, both teams are trying to challenge for top spot in their divisions. Saskatchewan has definitely been more consistent though. Hamilton @ Winnipeg (Saturday, September 29) A quarterback controversy in Hamilton, perhaps? The big-money guy gets hurt and the little-known backup carries the team to victory? Will it even matter against Winnipeg? Calgary @ BC (Saturday, September 29) Calgary's in tough this week, coming off a loss to Hamilton, with no Henry Burris, in B.C. Ouch. Good luck!

Hello out there, we're on the air, It's hockey night tonight; Tension grows, the whistle blows, And the puck goes down the ice. Edmonton by 12. The goalie jumps, and the players bump, The fans all go insane; Someone roars, "Bobby scores!" At the good old hockey game. Montreal by 7. Oh! The good old hockey game, Is the best game you can name; And the best game you can name, Is the good old Hockey game! Winnipeg by 19. Now the final flick of a hockey stick, And on one gigantic screen; Well, the puck is in - the home team wins, That good old hockey game. BC by 13. It was only a matter of time.

I did some analysis. Lately you've always missed thie first game but picked the last game correctly. For the middle two I went with gut instinct.

DrJohn ... not that I wouldn't rather be tied with you for second at the moment, I should come by it honestly. I actually had the Riders picked last week. I try to bold my pick to make it easy on you, but it was an easy mistake to make with the way I worded it. Anyway, enjoy your solo week in 2nd place ... I've got a good feeling about this week! ;)

YYM, I thought you were joking. Guess not.

Sorry Spitz, I guess I skimmed too quickly and just caught "BC by 10" at the end of the line! I'll fix it in the spreadsheet. And read more carefully next time. :)

apoch, I think you're in for a good week. Two teams that both need to play like they're possessed. A sweep of this home-and-home series will have serious implications for the playoffs. I do think that the EE are starting to gel on both sides of the ball. And, this one is in Commonwealth ... EE by 10 (he writes with fingers crossed!) Two teams both on losing skids. I think this will be a back'n'forth contest seein' the Riders walkin' away with the narrow win. Samsquanch by 3. This should be a no-brainer, but for some reason I think the Tabbies have some fight in 'em at the moment. They "shouldn't" beat Winnipeg on any night (although they have already back in August, no?), but I think the Bombers might have to win this one late. Winnie by 5. BC at home. It's against Calgary. I want the spread to be like 55, and it very well could be, but I'll keep it somewhat conservative. May the good Lord have mercy on Calgarian souls. Lions by 17.

DJE, Hamilton two weeks in a row? You're either crazy or a genius. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I got a feeling. A feeling that I did get 3 points this week. I also watched half of a game hoping to recharge my luck.

Sir, you don't know the half of it.
