CFL Pick 'Em, Week 5: It's division rivalry time! Also, a new leader for the third time in as many weeks. Make your picks inside.

Not a bad week for your entertainment value. Winnipeg takes the come-from-behind coin toss with some great goal-line defensive stops. Hamilton plays their best game of the season, but can't hold their late-game lead against the league's premier pedigree. Saskatchewan dominates in the first half, but Edmonton takes the second half for the one-point win. And in Calgary... well, not only was Toronto's receiving corps more beat-up than I thought, but Mike McMahon just plain sucked. The NFL can have him back now.

Entertaining games don't always make for big points, though. Spitz takes the week with his Eskimos coming through, and owlhouse grabs a couple to take the lead, but points in general were tough to come by. Tight spreads meant that this was a winners-only week.

The division rivalries resume! Except for Winnipeg, which is in the East due to technical difficulties. WEEK 5 Montreal @ Toronto (Thursday, July 26) Montreal is stumbling badly, but with the Argos' offensive side pretty beat up, this may be their best chance to establish a foothold in the division. Can an as-yet-uninspiring Calvillo beat Toronto's tough D, though? Hamilton @ Winnipeg (Friday, July 27) Winnipeg has been alternating good and bad, sometimes even on a minute to minute basis. Hamilton has been getting better every game. The Ti-Cats are still a major 'dog here, though. Edmonton @ Saskatchewan (Saturday, July 28) Saskatchewan will likely not take kindly to their blown halftime lead last week, especially not on their home turf. B.C. @ Calgary (Saturday, July 28) No word on Dave Dickenson's return yet, but depth at QB has never been a huge problem for B.C. I think Calgary gets a bit of a letdown on this one. Good luck!

I saw Candye Kane at the East Coast Blues and Roots festival a couple of years ago. Toronto by 9. She told a story about one of her Canadian band members dying from drug abuse. Winnipeg by 4. This was followed by a heartfelt plea to look after our friends and family. Edmonton by 5. And then she played the piano with her tits. Calgary by 11.

owlhouse has the most hilarious pick 'em predictions ever. Argos by a field goal. I don't know why, but I find myself reading them for more than the picks. Bombers by 8. I think that everyone should read them too. Riders by a converted touchdown. Then maybe we could all play pianos (or any instrument of choice really) with our tits. Lions by 17. That would be awesome!

At this point, my best hope is that our late start this week causes several competitors to not get their picks in on time. Winning by default is much better than losing by sucking! Monty by 7 Hammy by 6 Sassy by 12 Calgary-ey by 3

Well when best score is three I guess it isn't a bad week to forget to make picks. Montreal by 11 Winnipeg by 20 Sask by 8 BC by 12

At this point, my best hope is that our late start this week causes several competitors to not get their picks in on time. I was going to apologize for posting late, but the response this week has been much better than last week's—when I posted earlier than usual.

Sorry Doc, that wasn't meant as a dig, a beef, or anything of the sort. Just an offhand comment. This is an absolute blast! I love you for doing it year in and year out, and would kiss you on the lips if I lived close enough to actually find you.

No worries, I didn't even come close to reading it as such! I just thought it was pretty funny that there's absolutely no correlation between when I post and how many people get their picks in on time. Compare last week (I posted first thing Monday morning, 2.5 people missed their picks) to this week (posted late yesterday, nearly everybody's picked so far).

Do you know something about Hamilton that we don't DJE?

I guess I can keep the Spitztengle tag for now. Lumsden was voted offensive player of the week!

YYM, I know they don't play until tomorrow, which gives me lots of time to come to my senses.

I gotta say, this one is givin' me fits ... my original pick was Riders by 7, but the EE have made some changes in the backfield, receiving corps, and special teams that I think make them better this week than last. Hmmm ... what should I do??? 'kay, I'll do it. I'M CHANGING MY PICK: Edmonton by 10

Ah, shitballs - I'm so fucking busy these days - I keep forgetting this. Just take me out, my good Doctor. I'll drop in and laugh at TBH occassionally.

Actually, it looks to me like Weedy, despite the missed week(s), is only two points behind TBH. I get the feeling that there's some sort of weird synergy between you two: some strange law of nature prevents you from earning points independently of each other.

It's because we share a pancreas. Speaking of which, it's in the mail, Weedy, so you should have it in time for the weekend.
