Spofi EPL fantasy footie: Week 36 and 37 update. One week to go, and maybe, just maybe, one last huge week from Berbatov could bring about a StarFuckerian collapse...

And now week 37, some huge scores.
last week Global Average: 50 Global Highest: 146 Spofi Average: 55.8 And I was a bit hasty. The margin went from a 62 point lead down to 33. Not quite halved.posted by gspm at 10:29 PM on May 10, 2007

Best weekly scores yet from TX Devils, Phatcat FC, PunksInTheBeerlight, and Ardley Athletic. New worstest week placing by Salmacis FC down in 35th. Things get tighter at the top. We have to go back almost ten weeks to week 28 to find the gap between 1st and 2nd lower than 33 points. And both The Clitorati and PunksInTheBeerlight have made late charges to reach their highest overall rankings of the season. PunksInTheBeerlight is the top performer on the week for the 2nd time, in the top three for the 6th time and in the top 10 for the 17th time (joint 5th best). Ardley Athletic is in the top three for the 8th time (joint second best with Crap City and Clitorati, one behind Phatcat) and in the top 10 for the 22nd time (joint best with Crap City). TX Devils is in the top three for the 3rd time and in the top 10 for the 9th time. So, down to the last week.

TX Devils is in the top three for the 3rd time and in the top 10 for the 9th time... therefore winning the Model of Inconsistency Cup.

So much for a boost from picking up ladyboy. Mired in mediocrity.

The only reasonable goal I had left was to finish in front of TX Devils, but it's looking less reasonable by the day.

Wow -- from Intertoto Cup eligibility to a tenuous hold on the final Champions League qualifying position in one week -- I'll take it. Thanks as always for pulling together all of the tables, gspm.

My best score ever. I'm so proud. Thanks Berby.

What is spofi's highest weekly average? Just wondering, because with multiple 100+ scores, I figured it would be week 37.

Week 34 at 73.4. That was another week with some double gameweeks for some big guns. I think this one certainly had the potential to be even better, but then ManU clinched the title and Chelsea and ManU weren't fielding their strongest sides in both of their games this week. I had my eye on Berbatov when the season started but seem to have a policy that new players (ie Sheva, Ballack) have to prove themselves in the EPL (for a few weeks, at least) before I'd pick them up. But Berbatov started slow. He's really picked it up and will be a good pickup next year unless he ends up sitting on Chelsea's bench or something.

So can we award the trophy to gspm, like Man U, a week early? Even with the tremendous effort by squealy, I doubt very much that the 38-point gap will be closed. Congrats, gspm! And thanks again for the awesome stats. Wow, it's like being the top jock and alpha nerd all rolled into one.

hehe, well done indeed, gspm. squealy and FB had another good week, squealy got really close, but you closed it out.

That gap was just too large to make up. Can't the season go on for one more week? Well done gspm.

Consistency is for losers. Oh, wait... Thanks gspm. Excellent work throughout the season.

I saw this because the gap between 1st and 2nd was more than halved this week. And I recall StarFucker leading the EPL pool for most (all?) of the season about four years ago only to lose on the last week. (and I wasn't even in that pool, why I remember this crap, I don't know). But first, week 36...
