Also, the All-Star weekend starts Friday, so there are only four days of games.

posted by dusted at 01:05 PM on February 12, 2007

Yes, with the All-Star short week, I could see this being a week of upsets.

posted by smithers at 01:59 PM on February 12, 2007

Kind of an interesting week in that the top 4 teams all played and pretty much beat up on one another. Here's last week's final stats for those teams:

TBH and I had a classic battle with where I had a 1-8 deficit Sun AM. To end up with two ties is kinda shocking. You can start to see how things are shaping up for the playoffs. I'm still in trade mode if people are up for making moves.

I hope I have killed mdb's playoff hopes.

posted by Ying Yang Mafia at 05:14 PM on February 12, 2007

There's still eight more weeks. I don't think anyone within 10 points of first is out of it until late March.

I don't think anyone within 10 points of first is out of it until late March. No kidding. I'm not exactly looking forward to playing Ufez in a short week. Last week he takes me 7-2. Spitzengle is on fire recently too. He might have dug a hole that's too big, but he'll be winning some weeks from here out.

posted by YukonGold at 06:33 PM on February 12, 2007

I find it funny that I have more blocks than vagabonds, yet my record is 0-15 in that category, while his record is 7-8. Wow, this league has brought me some terrible luck.

Wondering what it would be like if it were a roto-league (ignoring games played) is not good for the ego. btw, let me know if that link is borked for you all. This is my first attempt at using Google Spreadsheet

posted by Ufez Jones at 07:34 PM on February 12, 2007

Ufez, that link is borked for me. I'm really curious about what it shows. Seeing Matt Barnes starting and playing well after I dropped him is really frustrating. Damn Nellie! I was soooo patient, but on Feb. 3 he played 1 minute of the first half and 7 minutes total. Anyone would have dropped him! Good on Kendall for grabbing him, but that's a drop I wish I could take back. Ufez: what was the deal with dropping Delonte West? That's a top-50 pick next year.

posted by dusted at 08:41 PM on February 12, 2007

Kendall: sorry, I meant to use your new username in the standings table. I'll change it starting next week.

posted by dusted at 08:42 PM on February 12, 2007

Ufez, did you post the url you get when you edit it, or the url google provides when you publish the spreadsheet?

posted by apoch at 12:17 AM on February 13, 2007

Yeah, my hopes are pretty much dead. My team has fallen apart...killed by injuries. Yao Ming, Boozer, and Iverson have three good legs between them.

It seems like I am in the hunt, but it doesn't seem like I'll do better than that. But who knows.

It seems like I am in the hunt, but it doesn't seem like I'll do better than that. But who knows. I'm assuming Ufez's spreadsheet was gonna show the roto implications. You'd probably like what you saw in that view. Or you wouldn't because it illustrates the flaw in a H2H league. A flaw I think is worth it because you have much better competition.

posted by YukonGold at 12:41 PM on February 13, 2007

Gah. Sorry for keeping everyone in suspense. I didn't know you had to publish the spreadsheet first, and then I spilled diet root beer on my keyboard. Not a good combination. Anyhow, here you go. And you were spot-on about gspm's team, Yukon.

posted by Ufez Jones at 05:37 PM on February 13, 2007

Ahhhh. Take it down! It says I suck.

posted by YukonGold at 06:07 PM on February 13, 2007

Look at me, right down at the bottom.

posted by Ying Yang Mafia at 08:41 PM on February 13, 2007

I guess my assessment was based on comparing my last week with those of the top 4. And I was in the lower end of the mix. We'll see. I mean I think I was in the bottom three earlier in the season so moving up has been good.

posted by gspm at 08:14 AM on February 14, 2007

Can we switch to roto now, please? Oh well.....did I pick up G.Hill too early?

posted by smithers at 09:11 AM on February 14, 2007

I would have picked him back up in a week or so, but I'm not too upset about you getting him. He's great when he plays, but he's absolutely unreliable, which is not what you want in the playoffs.

posted by dusted at 12:35 PM on February 14, 2007

I hope Steve Blake keeps this up when Iverson returns. 11 assists in the first half, although only 2 points. Kind of a white, slightly-less-ugly Brevin Knight.

I'm not exactly looking forward to playing Ufez in a short week. See, I knew it. I may just be the victim of the season's very first 9-0 skunking thanks to the disappearance of my two best players. This will put you in playoff position Ufez, you can commense with the no-holds-barred smack talk now.

posted by YukonGold at 05:13 AM on February 15, 2007

the season's very first 9-0 skunking Ahem...

That was the only sun shining on my bit of the universe and you had to be the rain cloud. Cold blooded!

posted by YukonGold at 08:45 AM on February 15, 2007

Rudy! Rudy! Chin up, Yukon. You've got two players playing tonight to my one (fading) Center. You could easily snipe away steals.

posted by Ufez Jones at 09:40 AM on February 15, 2007

Rudy! Rudy! Yeah that burns too. Look back at who actually drafted him. Me Baby! I've picked up and dropped him a couple times. Something is clicking for him now though. May be a classic case of a rookie who takes 50 games to get it.

I'm facing a 3-6 deficit before the final games of the week - and I have three players active vs one on the other side, and one of my players is Kobe. Some of the margins seem makeupable. So, I will tune in tomorrow with great interest to see if I've reversed that score - and to see what sort of "improvements" Yahoo is bringing to their offerings. I'd like to see a better team selection interface. whole lotta clicking to shuffle players in and out every few days.

posted by gspm at 12:07 PM on February 15, 2007

and to see what sort of "improvements" Yahoo is bringing to their offerings Whatever it is it has to revolve around the baseball interface. Sign ups start tomorrow. Yee-haw!

I am extremely displeased with the short week, seeing as my opponent's players have played more games and my opponent happens to be the Knicks. I hate the All Star week in hockey as well.

posted by Ying Yang Mafia at 04:36 PM on February 15, 2007

I hope the stat-tracker is improved. It looks so...2001. As an aside, for anyone interested, the local alt-weekly has a very nice - if not somewhat long - piece on Josh Howard this week. I'm not sure if it's FPP worthy (and if it is, I highly doubt I should be the one to post it considering his picture's in my profile and his jersey's in my closet), but it's a nice read.

You must have worn J-Ho's jersey to sleep last night for good luck....

So this week is over, right? I'm confused... and I got stomped, so I'm hoping for another week.

I just picked up J. Posey- which seems like a smart move considering D. Wade's injury. Im actually doing a little better since the trade for Lee and Nelson... but im still 40+ games out *chuckles*
