Spofi EPL fantasy footie: Week 25 update. Some fruitful weeks on the books!
posted by gspm at 09:18 PM on January 31, 2007
So, second best week by the Spofi collective. An average of 50.7 is only bested by the 61.2 in week 17. And this with four teams inactive. Teams with their best weekly score: FIFA Rankings, BillSaysThisScores!!, Ball Booters, vagabonds, TX Devils, Phatcat FC, PunksInTheBeerlight , Upper V, Bitches!, Inter Hoxton Teams with their worst weekly score: Sauril's WideBoys , FC Hammer Best weekly finish yet: PunksInTheBeerlight (2), and Upper V, Bitches! (5) In addition to the intimidating hold on the Form Table, Phatcat returns to the top 3 for the first time since a four week run in weeks 5-8. 'E's Going for it: Ardley Athletic tops the overall Tinkerman sweepstakes with 32 transfers (at time of publication) including 16 in the last 11 weeks. But watch out! Here comes EnFuego, 12 transfers in the last 5 weeks for a 24 pt penalty. He's trying to advance the hard way. Week 21, 17 transfers, 23rd place. Week 25, 29 transfers, 29th place. and as a note, the standings table says I am in 33rd place but in the second spot. Mystery typo.

Looks like playing my wildcard paid off as I moved up 4 spots. Yay! Still down in the bottom of the table though :(

For the record, and in defence of my Tinkerman status, every time I bring in a new player they get injured within weeks (normally the week after I've signed them). This week Nicolas Anelka joined my happy band of cripples.

Yukon United 53.3 13 13 13 Talk about consistency. But, all you guys who have Ronaldo have forced my hand. I had an outstanding day one but once everyone got 26 from him yesterday I was back into the pack. No more can I sit by without those points.

The less footie I watch, the better my team is doing. Don't tell my girlfriend.

72 points isn't my best week ever? Really? Holy crap, when did I ever do that good? And yeah, I'm pretty goddamned bitter. Score 72 freakin' points and get no hot red, or orange, or yellow? Not even burnt umber? Fuckin' EPL. Just for that, I'm calling garf's girl about all his damn footie watching. Misery loves company.

Basically anyone with ladyboy as captain did really well this week. Again. :-)

The FA cup ties hurt me quite a bit. That's my worst weekly showing in quite a while.

Sal, did you see ladyboy draw the penalty kick? Was it valid, or another orchestrated dive? You have to admit, he is really good at diving.

Greg Louganis is his personal trainer. I completely blanked on making my changes this week until it was too late, and my abysmal performance reflects that.

garfield, no I havn't seen any highlights from midweek. I wouldn't be at all surprised at all if he did did dive (a penalty? At Old Trafford? To Man Utd? You don't say!)

Sal, did you see ladyboy draw the penalty kick? Was it valid, or another orchestrated dive? The soon-to-be Player of the Year, didn't draw the penalty he only buried it. Jay Demerit just about pulled Solskjaer's jersey off and the ref somehow thought it was a foul. Same old United Always cheating.

Wow! I'd won a week before? I need to start paying more attention to that. This week's points came as a bit of a surprise since I set my roster a couple weeks ago and promptly forgot to check in on it after my son was born last week. Having Lampard and Ronaldo certainly helped.

Congrats on the birth of your son, cabuki. It must come close to having both Ronaldo and Lampard on your team. But seriously, enjoy parenthood!

The soon-to-be Player of the Year, didn't draw the penalty... Nevermind.

Go, Ladyboy, go!

The kid's a living submarine thriller: "Dive! Dive! Dive!" The competition in our league is to find the people to complement Ronaldo, Lampard, Drogba, Rooney and Henry.

Speaking of Das Boot, go rent BeerFest.

I'm nerd enough to have seen it on opening night, thank you very much. I suppose the sex scene in Beerfest sort of prepped me for Borat.
