Fantasy Basketball H2H league: Standings update after four weeks. There's a new leader, some key injuries and pickups, but no trade activity. The Knicks are still in last place.

I'm trying to emulate the EPL table by showing weekly direction with colors. It was a pretty tight week, with nobody getting more than six points, so not "red hot" teams this week. I'm still looking for a good source for threes or blocks, if anyone is interested in a trade.

Still getting adjusted to the altitude. I've played Knicks and Spitztenglicious, so I worry I might have some misleading results. btw, this change to the (lack of an) injury list will prove to be a major bear at some point this season.

I am winning! The Tinkering sweepstakes, it would appear. And I was present for the draft. I was following some woeful prerankings I guess. I should have made a note of where I got them so that I don't make the same mistake next year.

btw, this change to the (lack of an) injury list will prove to be a major bear at some point this season Yeah. I had to drop Brandon Roy because he was hurt and not playing but I didn't have anything to do with him.

I had to drop Brandon Roy Forced to make the same move in another league. Brutal. Don't mind me while I put in a waiver request for him

We didn't have an IR list last year either. I think it was 2 years ago?

posted by smithers at 06:16 PM on November 27, 2006

Without an IL, I think it's a losing proposition to hold or pick up injured players unless they're really, really talented, unless your team is strong enough to win short-handed. Roy is frustrating, because you don't know if he'll be out a week or three months. He says as he ponders a waiver request...

Never mind, smithers already nabbed him. This league is great at grabbing anyone with a shred of potential right away. The waiver wire is stripped.

We didn't have an IR list last year either. I think it was 2 years ago? Yeah, Yahoo dropped it when the NBA dropped it officially, which began with the '05-'06 season. think it's a losing proposition to hold or pick up injured players unless they're really, really talented I'm holding on to Brad Miller in both my leagues for some god-awful reason. My line of thinking is that really, all I'm aiming for is qualifying for playoffs with the strongest team I can bring in. It may wind up biting me in the ass, but them's fantasy sports for you. Speaking of, in one of my Fant. Football leagues, I'm .5 points ahead of my opponent. We both have one player left. He's got SEA WR Darrell Jackson, I've got SEA WR Deion Branch. Now *that's* cutting it close.

My team was so bad last year, not having an IR went totally unnoticed

Brad Miller is back, right? In a week or two he'll be back to speed.

Brad Miller....back to speed. /snicker

Back UP to speed, sorry.

whaddya all think of Pao Gasol as a hold-him-'til-he's-ready-to-play roster guy? is three months too long to wait? hey, i'm asking from the bottom of this league for chrissakes, throw me a bone will ya ;)

posted by Spitztengle at 02:41 AM on November 28, 2006

I'd imagine someone will smile and take a flier on him if you drop him. He's not getting you anything taking up a roster spot, but there's also not much to pick up and replace him with though. Tough spot.

Long term injuries are easy drops. The hard ones are people like my David West, who's been day-to-day for about a week and a half now. 17 points and 8-9 rebounds is hard to come by. It's killing me not having that these last two weeks.

Spitz: hang on to Pau. He's supposedly only a couple weeks from returning, and there is jack shit available on the waiver wire. Even if you decide to get rid of him, trade him and get someone of value - he's worth a lot to a good team because he'll help at playoff time.

Is anybody in need of a point guard? I seem to have five on my team.

posted by Ying Yang Mafia at 09:40 AM on November 28, 2006

No, I meant that even when fully healthy, Miller doesn't conjure up images of blistering quickness. Sorry for the unintended sarcasm...

It looks like there might be a few lopsided contests this week. For example, Flying Elbows IV is pounding The Full Jenny 8-0 as of Saturday. Every category is close, so it might go the other way by Monday.
