I so suck at this. But at least Arsenal beat Liverpool! ;)

I moved up a little. I'm happy, if I ignore whereabouts in the overall table I am.

I still held my spot on the table despite a subpar week, so I suppose I'm pretty pleased.

I had the fourth-best week on the table and only moved up one spot. Geezus. Tough crowd.

I've moved up 3 consecutive weeks, so it's not all bad. I'll keep the transfer train rolling and get read of some more of this dead/injured weight.

Oooooh. I got a colour for the very first time. Just when my team was starting to perform, I have to trade Tim Cahill.

I am so close to making the top half of the table. Surely, this will be my week. Oh, please, please.

My "layer cake" analysis - that is, tiers of teams that are within, say, approx. 30 points of each other: 1-4: 32-pt spread (Note: Two teams tied for #4) <-- lotsa action expected here... ===22 pts between=== 6-15: 31-pt spread <-- ... and here... ===11 pts between=== 16-23: 34-pt spread <-- and here. ===10 pts between=== 24-33: 37-pt spread ===7 pts between=== 34-35: 10-pt spread 36: 63 pts off the pace

I'm on a roll. Unfortunately I'm rolling in the wrong direction.

Oooooh. I got a colour for the very first time. Now, that statement calls into question my statement that best ever weekly performances were attained by Inter Hoxton (1st), The Magyars (2nd) and My Hair Is So Bangin (4th). So, rewinding, Week 6 found Middle Pocket Mares 2nd best and in ORANGE (oooh aaah). (I had to check since the analysis I provide depends on the accuracy of macros and formulas).

I suppose I can take solace in the fact my current trend must be asymptotic. Probably around 0, though.

Week 6 found Middle Pocket Mares 2nd best and in ORANGE (oooh aaah) Sorry, gspm. Must have some short term memory loss. Or I was out of the country. Or I was doing so badly up to then I didn't bother to look. Or all of the above.

skronk, I couldn't help but notice that you picked a good week to give the Ivorian sensation the armband. You bastard.

Man, skronky, you scored more points w/ Drogba than I scored w/ my entire team. *SOB*
posted by worldcup2002 at 07:23 PM on November 16, 2006
A minor quibble, but Drogba scores a hat-trick, adds an assist, and is everyone's Man of the Match. Still, he gets only a +1 bonus? The +3 goes to Essien, which is weird, but even stranger is +2 to Terry. Two defensive-minded players get more bonus points than a rampant Drogba, and for what? Repelling the mighty Watford attack?

I'm still kinda learning how the whole game works, but that's crazy that they employ a panel of ex-footballers to decide the bonus points.

No Henry today? Ka-what? Looks like a lot of people will get the shaft. Too bad my subs are useless, I'm sure others will fare better there.

Great. I sell Kanu and he scores. Figures.

Henry came off the bench and scored, Yuk.

I've been away from this site for a while. I've been running a team in the rec.sport.soccer league. Is it OK to add it to the SpoFi league?

Go ahead, salmacis. The more the merrier. I know this will kill gspm in terms of his stats updates, but it's good to have an "old-timer" back in the fold.

Sadly, "league is not accepting new entries". Bugger. Somebody needs to wind up that Bluenose.

Ah. That's the "Ban salmacis" feature they added this year.
