NYTimes reg-free.: Twice in the past two days, people have posted (very good) links to NYTimes articles. The old grey lady is a great paper with some fantastic - and often unique - content, but she's a harsh mistress when it comes to registration. Can I go ahead and provide SpoFi with the NYTimes Link Generator for those that are unaware?

Sounds like a good idea. The other option might be to set up a SpoFi user account and add it to either the page where posts are made or the FAQ (or both). Thanks Ufez Jones.

Well, the problem with that, terpie, is that the NYT seems to recognize when a single user account is logged in from all over the country/world. This is one of the major faults of BugMeNot. The NYTLG has been around for at least two years, IIRC, and has yet to be cracked. It just finds the RSS feed for any article (which, I believe, only subscribers to the paper can, well, subscribe to) and provides with that link, making it accessible to anyone.

This is probably quite a good idea, Ufez. I subscribe to the NYT anyway, so it doesn't affect me, but I've linked to the Times on the front page here recently, and I admit I winced a little before I hit submit. Their online registration process is fairly noninvasive as these things go, but I understand people not wanting to go through it.

Again, thanks Ufez. I was reluctant to make that last post but it is a topic I feel strongly about. And now to try it out myself, Coach Could Face Suspension for Blowout. "Bridgeport Central’s coach, Dave Cadelina, is the first Connecticut high school football coach to face a possible one-game suspension for violating a rule implemented in May that prohibits teams from winning by more than 50 points." Since we have had this disscussion already ill leave this here for any further comment.

Thanks for the link gen Ufez I used it today for the first time. I think it would be a good addition to spofi. Could it be placed somewhere here permanently?

bugmenot.com also is a good resource and often solves the registration/log-in issue for most sites. Maybe we can put that down too, along with Ufez's suggestion and any other useful utilities we come across.
