Ask SpoFi: two sports media-related questions that I could use help with (1 football, 1 baseball)...

1) I believe both teams in any american football game must have the same access. For example, if one team's coaches headsets go out, they notify the refs and the opposing team must remove their headsets so as not to have an advantage. My assumption concerning the cameras is that the TV coverage dictates the amount of information teams get from the cameras. Smaller markets or non-Nationally broadcast games would have fewer cameras and therefore fewer angles from which to get images for the faxes... or for instant replay reviews in the case of the NFL. 2) Perhaps try a real auction house such as SCP Auctions, which partners with Sothebys to do its sport-related auctions. SCP has its next big auction in October.* If you don't find anything on their website that matches what you are seeking, email me via the address in my profile and I will ask my contact at SCP if he knows whether they have a ticker in their inventory. * for those interested much of my pre-WWI baseball cards will be included in this October's auction. Sorry for the semi-off-topic advert, but some folks mentioned an interest at one time.

You're going to make a mint. There's got to be a couple $100,000 in there. Probably at worst. Jealous rage rising, rising, RISING.

If that is an offer, Weedy, I accept ;) I don't know how much to expect, nor do I wish to think about it. I have looked at card books, and the people at SCP are cautiously optomistic, but whatever happens happens. SCP is careful not to make promises they can't keep in regard to expected sales. I just figure someone will appreciate them more in their collection than in my safe deposit box.

Pretty cool collection. On (1), smithers, I believe that (at least when the practice started) the overhead shots were taken as still photos/polaroids by the coaches themselves from the offensive coordinator's box seats. No idea if that is how it is still done.

Please. Like anyone believes you wear pants. Yes, I DO. But these Buffalo Bills Zoobaz ones don't have pockets. (I bet I look totally different than what I think you think I look.... I can't believe you didn't like Miami Vice. Aside from calling it that - which was a mistake, it was a stylish sojourn that grimaced convincingly. Substance needs to be found elsewhere.)

Oh I bet I think you think you look different than what I think you think I thought you look like, once.

1. In the NFL (and perhaps college too, for all I know), players receive faxes when they come off the field with overhead photos of the offensive and defensive formations in use that particular series (you see these sometimes on the TV broadcast). Do these come from an overhead camera? From the blimp? Do both teams have access to the same video feed? And if so, is there an NFL rule that mandates this equivalent access? 2. I am looking to purchase a ticker tape record of an old baseball game -- replica fine, original not necessary. Do any of the baseball addicts here have any ideas where to find one? I have tried Ebay, and a Google search turned up very little. Thanks in advance...
