EPL Fantasy League, Week 4: Now why didn't I get Yakubu?
More to the point, why did I sell him? Doh!

ouch squealy lots of points this week. some had over 100.

bronze for the week, but that transfer binge really hurt.

Garfield, possibly those four goals Van Der Saar let in against Portsmouth(!) had a little to do with it as well. Still, you did score higher than me this week--thanks Mr. Cisse and a crap back line!

Yeah, he isn't putting up the numbers like last year. at least not yet. Should I be more wary of Fulham? I'm thinking Tottenham might be the way to go: above avg. record, low scoring games with alot of saves. Robinson, here i come.

I could hold on no longer. I had no option but to sell Lampard in order to afford Henry. So this is the week Arsenal stop scoring..

A piddling performance from my boys these past two gameweeks. We're back down to #8. I'm looking for improvement when matches resume Sep 11. September 11. Hmmm.

Wonder if Shearer will put himself on the starting XI when they take the field against Rovers that day.

With nothing to lose, I did blow up my squad. Still no Henry, though.

Yowch, garfield. I've committed myself to not being Tinkerman this season. So far, I've been a good boy, and the damage has been limited. I expect to be back in the top five next gameweek!

I just find the double gameweeks so difficult resist. Mmmmmmm, double gameweeks. *drools* Trouble is I now have to fix all the mayhem I've wrought. I damn you Kronenbourg and your ability to cloud my FFL judgement. Mmmmmmm, Kronenbourg.
posted by squealy at 03:43 AM on September 02, 2004
I did the same as you squealy - I couldn't resist swapping Reyes out for Smith, and making Alan Smith captain was a biiiiig mistake, you're only 17 points away now!
posted by BigCalm at 04:50 AM on September 02, 2004
I toyed with the idea of making Smith captain too, but it was too risky with the form Henry's been in. Comically enough, if I hadn't fucked with my team lineup I'd have scored 19 more points. But c'est la vie, sometimes these things pay off, sometimes they don't.
posted by squealy at 05:32 AM on September 02, 2004
making Alan Smith captain was a biiiiig mistake Okay, I feel a *little* less stupid right now. At least I wasn't the only one.
posted by Ufez Jones at 09:28 AM on September 02, 2004
Hey, making Alan Smith captain is better than having Cisse on your team. I had Henry as captain, but I also had Cisse. ;-)
posted by worldcup2002 at 11:42 AM on September 02, 2004
ditto. I was going to sell him, but of course as soon as I do he'll break out *that very day* of course he will.

i have the same sentiment about Gerrard....9.5 ain't worth 14 pts.

I also have Gerrard. Sigh. My Liverpool fanaticism has cost me some points again.

btw, thanks for the updates, Calmy! It ain't pretty, but it works. And all we need is the update so we can gloat and trash talk. Good show, Clammy, on the updates and topping the table.

Moved up to #6, even with two gimpy players. With my substitutes bringing in six more points, I should be set for the week. Can't wait for Calmy's update.

I'll post it here, because it's going to clutter the locker room otherwise. A summary: A slightly lower scoring week, but somehow I've extended my lead (/lifts shirt over head in celebration), but this week's star players are Kwacky and Garfield, getting 61 and 57 respectively, and who now lead the september table; there's plenty of movement in mid table - gspm moves up to second after a poor performance from squealy's boys, worldcup has jumped a couple of places too. Update below

Is it any better this year? How's the updating and accuracy? I think the guys who do the engineering are just across the room from me, but the people who run it are in the UK. I can check, but as you can see, I couldn't be bothered to play this year after the past year's deteriorating quality.

wc2k2, the format has changed quite a bit when transferring players in and out. Gone is the re-sign at lower price (my kluivert pick is just killing me because of this). Seems to update a little faster thus far anyway.
posted by trox at 01:30 PM on September 16, 2004
The usability went way down IMO. When making a transfer there is no search by name or list by team (instead of by position). That's engineering, right?
