I should shape up and post the EPL Fantasy League Week 35 update already. squealy's Ardley Athletic, winners of April, have pulled ahead of Kwacky's Kwitters by four points with three weeks left. Other than that, not much movement in a week topped by mbd1's 59 (another late entrant, this time jasonspaceman, placed again with 58). No biggie when the Team of the Week has, like, Carl Cort on it. The finish line is in sight, with our three-team race (say hi to bluebears) yet to be decided, so...do whatever you do at this point, I guess. (more inside)

taupe is the man! I know it doesn't change anything, but I'm damn proud of the top 3 finish for the month. I'd like to thank taupe, for the tables, and my decision to drop RVN.

editor's note: taupe is not 'the man' in the same regard as Dick Cheney is 'the man'. See bulletpoint 2.

60 points out of relegation. Dear Santa and Alan Shearer, please keep me out of relegation. Speaking of, after this year, how many spots are going to be swapped between the two SpoFi leagues? 3? 5? Just curious.

I still say one big league is more fun. :-P If it's never been before (which it has), now is most definitely the time to shit or bust. Oh, and Blues signed Mikael Forssell for another season, which makes me very, very happy.

I'm rethinking the split too.

I'm going to force my mate Andy (who is Bluebears) to comment here. After all, he is in the running for the top spot.

A mere 25 points or so from safety, c'mon Henry and rain in some goals over the last few matches. (I'll second the decision to drop RVN).

I'm with Squealy: one big league.

there is a good race in the works for that faux 4th Champions League spot too. 5 points (and 39 transfers) separates 4th to 6th. the links on the table are hella screwed up

I can't do much this weekend as Blues play Arsenal and there's a rumour that Wenger is saving his big boys for the Champions league Ah well, top 6 isn't too shabby for my first season :-D

posted by kWaCkY at 01:09 PM on April 29, 2004

you mean henry, pires, & co. won't be playing EPL, but CL, this weekend?

posted by garfield at 01:40 PM on April 29, 2004

Ignore that, I meant Chelsea. More evidence of my mental demise.

posted by kWaCkY at 03:10 PM on April 29, 2004

Darn, and I thought Arsenal losing to Chelsea was an actual sleeping nightmare for a second there.

posted by trox at 03:50 PM on April 29, 2004

You need to get more sleep kWaCkY. Arsenal have four players who need to play to get championship medals. Which kind of begs the question, why do I have three Arsenal players in this week's lineup?

posted by squealy at 06:07 PM on April 29, 2004

rookie question: with the 10 game requirement, is it likely the usual starters won't play? this multiple league thing is a bit confusing.

posted by garfield at 09:08 AM on April 30, 2004

The suspicion is that Arsenal will select a somewhat weakened side for the rest of the season, seeing as they've already won the title and face fairly "easy" opposition in their last four games. However, it's also worth noting that they are chasing the record of unbeaten Premiership games. Also, the players needing to play to get medals only need to "feature" in games, they don't have to play 90 minutes. In other words, your guess is as good as mine.

Crap almighty, I've fudged that script enough times, and now I've got to unbreak the number links. At least the name links work.

Another PK for Murphy and a goal for Heskey. Take that, StarFucker! Yeah Liverpool!!!

Damn right, and would be even better if that teenaged fool Arturo Alvarez didn't hurt himself in practice. The Quakes sure could have used him in midfield Saturday night.
