EPL Fantasy League Week 13 (November). This is more like it -- seven of us break 60, with gspm's Crap City United topping the week with 73 and squeaking ahead of wc2002 (of the 67-point performance, second on the week) to lead the November race by a single point. The chase is on in earnest, and now that we know the secret to scoring lots of points -- pick lots of players who play Leeds that week -- we should have half a dozen of us well into the 900s before the new year. And so a sad October bleeds into a tearful November.

Well, even if we did slip one to #5 this week, I must say my team is showing signs of being true contenders. Thanks to the Fulham duo, Saha and Clark, who contributed a solid 23 pts today. Funny thing, Fulham is also #5 in the EPL. Maybe I should change the team name to Fulham Followers.

Hey, where's lilnemo and the yahoo update? My Keystone Kippers are not doing as well in that league. For shame.

and it's a place in Europe for the team they had all written off before the start of the season. Champions league? You're having a laugh! Champions league? You're having a laugh! (repeat until you htink of a new song)

WOW. i "won". I'd like to thank Saha for his pointful performance last night.

Hey, look at that. My performance is mentioned in the both the post that launches this thread AND the NHL fantasy pool thread. Woo!

Saha has now scored as many goals in the first two months of the season as he did in the whole of last, so I'm hoping he'll hit a fallow patch seeing as I didn't pick him. Not a bad week for me, especially seeing as my star player only got 5 minutes at the end of his game. Bastard Imperial Lord Ferg! Shearer and Henry remain the only thing that keeps my head above water.

Ah, good old Henry. The git who this week helped put all 3 past my beloved Blues but earned me 22 points.

I'm slowly making my way into the top 20. I don't want to get too far behind. And thanks to Mr. Shearer for another great week.

Did any of you see the Arsenal-Inter Champions League match today? It was on ESPN2 in the States. Just finished watching and I have to say that the referee was complete shite. Even though the result might not show it, one really bad decision, not to give Inter a PK on a Campbell foul in the 83rd or 84th minute was the difference between a draw and the blowout that the match ended up. Just sad, because the guy's numerous poor decisions really changed the result.

Yes billy, I saw it. Can't say I thought the ref was that shite, at least he was shite in a fairly even manner. Anyway, it's difficult for a ref with those Ities diving all over the place at the drop of a hat. ;-) What about Henry though? A truly magnificent performance.

Yeah i saw that too, bill... Bullshit if you ask me. It was a definite penalty. And yes, it all fell apart from there...plus one of their players was out injured right after that non-penalty call and he was out for the rest of the game. He was a defender, and i think he got knockered on that play.

knockered. Heeheehee.

The ref in the Monaco V PSV game was the shiteist. He gave a chap a red card for taking a free kick too quickly.

FB, no ESPN love for us Americans on that match. Anyway, I thought the no-call on the PK was only the most egregious of his f-ups. Arsenal's third goal, which seems to have completely killed the Italian side, should have been disallowed for offsides. 2-2 instead of 3-1 would have made a huge difference with less than 10 minutes to play! Maybe it's their English bias but I was really taken back by Soccernet's match report--not even a mention of this or any comment from an Internazionale official or player.

Soccernet biased?!? NO WAY!! Dudek was rested because he just played 3 matches in a week...Soccernet said he was "axed" for the incredible Kirkland!! I hate Soccernet.

Oh man, I guess you won't like this IHT article drooling all over Henry.

No i like Henry... Its hard to not like him. He is a child sometimes when he doesn't get his way but you can't deny he is a great player. He IS quite possibly the best there is right now. I like his style. In fact, he ADDS a style to the boring English football nowadays. And he doesn't fall over like a bitch the way Pires or other players do when they are in the box. He legitimately sets up goals out of nothing without resorting to cheating. I wish i had access to more leagues like Italy and Spain. But as of now from what i can see, Henry is the main man.

WC, you're right because again no mention of the crap calls. SF, I have to wonder why FSW bothers with French, Dutch and German leagues but no Serie A or Primera Liga! Sure the Brazilian clubs are fun but Argentina?

btw, I am doing brilliantly this weekend. Scoring 18 points off just three players today leaves me in a strong position to extend my good run. I hope Henry gets a hattrick.

btw, someone Find Nemo! Where's the yahoo update? bill, weren't you going to do this?

Those zeroes on my Gameweek 14 display looked much better when I realized that my three strikers and keeper all play tomorrow--I wonder if I can get enough points to jump back ahead of Ufez, since all his strikers played today. Hey that table business was too much me. Said so after one week.

I can barely believe that in the week I make Henry captain Arsenal draw 0-0; just watch old horse face score a chuffing hat trick now. To cap it all Liverpool are hanging grimly on against Blues courtesy of a very dodgy penalty.
posted by Fat Buddha at 09:56 AM on November 30, 2003
3-1 to Liverpool! Did I not say they would win as long as they started Pongolle? And I got some chuffin' points from Forsell, too. Whooooooooo!

Helps if Maik Taylor comes down with the flu, of course. We're going to have a new month winner, we know that.

Blame it on the keeper why don'cha? ;-) How about these brilliant goals (that any keeper would've been hard-pressed to save): Liverpool replaced Djimi Traore with John Arne Riise on 66 minutes, and two minutes later the Norwegian supplied an accurate ball in from the left for Kewell to dive forward and send a spectacular header wide of Bennett's right hand. and Diao hoisted a ball in from the right and Heskey jumped to take it on his chest before spinning to hook the dropping ball into the top corner. Wish I coulda seen it. Wish I coulda seen it. "You'll neeeeever waaalk alone!"

Lovely result for the Reds indeed! However, even though both teams didn't explode on contact like a matter/anti-matter collision as I'd hoped, I still would have loved to see ManUre-Chelski. 1-0 on a PK!
