Help! Why is it that in the Yahoo! Fantasy League, when one sells a player, one is only allotted the priced paid for him to use in purchasing the replacement rather than the current market value? Why don't we get credit for purchasing good players to begin with?

I don't know...

Wow, Fucker, I'm impressed with your helpfulness and insight!

Yahoo sucks, Bill. Its fantasy football sucks, its fantasy hockey sucks, and I imagine its fantasy soccer sucks. But hey, it's free.

Geez bill... Why so harsh?

Geez starfucker, I'm really sad your sense of humor is on vacation without you. [sticks tongue out in the general direction of Chicago, cue razzberry sound effect]

SF, He's probably got a chip on his shoulder because of his shortcomings. Bill, I tried not to post that, but failed. My apologies. To the Mrs., that is. Ha!

Ha! Hey bill, i was not serious you know... My sense of humour DOES seem to be on vacation, however. Ever since i found out i will be layed off in December. I don't feel too confident about the future. Hopefully, everything will work out. I just found out on Friday.

Sorry, to hear that StarFucker. On the bright side though you'll be just in time to get a job as Santa Claus.

SF: Just pray you don't have a two-plus year interval before your next gig--I am going to hit 27 months without next week.

posted by billsaysthis at 01:55 PM on October 28, 2003

Holy shit, SF. That sucks. Shit. Tell squealy to fuck off. (I like the sound of that. Somehow, it seems to be the trend lately.) But, you know squealy, I'm only kidding. ;-) I was going to make a joke about taking some comfort in your position in the PremierLeague.com league (doh!), or maybe the yahoo! league (oof!), but no. So, I'm just really really sorry about the news. I'm gonna hang out here a little more and just focus on cheering you up. Also, do feel free to email me (you know where to find my email ... hint: yahoo league) if you have a specific job in mind. I may have a couple of leads in Chicago. Also, commiserating with bill might help; I think he has more than a little empathy for your situation. Hang in there, big guy.

Sorry to hear that, SF. I went 13 months myself in 01-02. Just think though, you can use your free time to campaign for a different president!

Whoa. I'm starting to re-think giving my two-weeks notice last Thursday. Well, sort of.

I don't mean to sound naive or pry, but bill, how do you manage that? My pops just got the bad word as well, as it seems out rebounding economy is missing some folks on the way back up. Good luck SF. wc2k2, glad to see you back.

I made a smart decision or two, in which I did not let all my dot com money vanish, before this happened so my finances are still not at zero. Though I still am pretty angry about searching for a job for two years with no offers. SF, next time you come out here (near SF, as it were), I'll buy you a couple of beers.

worldcup, glad to see you back. missed you. i've been looking for you... in a non-stalker sort of way... or something.

posted by jerseygirl at 08:15 PM on October 28, 2003

sorry to hear that SF. I hope better luck comes your way soon. (sorry to crash your soccer thread boys. just wanted to find worldcup (again, in a nonstalker way) and then i read about StarFucker, so... anyway, i'll leave you to your regularly scheduled tom-foolery and wedgies, or whatever the hell you do in here ;) )

Wow, I'm blushing (in a non-stalker way). Anyway, msacheson (PANTHEON!) and aacheson (pregnant!) showed up for my birthday bbq this weekend, after watching drunk people try to fly off a pier. It was a pleasure to meet this consummately cute, charming couple. msacheson even suggested that we take a picture and post it here, just to show everything was OK. Anyway, here's a picture of me. The achesons will testify that I am even better-looking in real life.

Of course, I was just kidding. As one who's no stranger to the dole queue I know it can be a serious downer. I did enjoy the lie-ins though. I'm just glad I'm on a permanent contract with the government, it's about as stable a situation as you can be in these days.

I'm going to cling on to being a student for as long as possible. Well, until I run out of money due to no income source that is.. Doh. The reason we don't get credit for increases in player value is then it would make it far too easy - given the way those fluctuate, you could have about a thousand points by mid-season.. I would like to dedicate this weeks performance to, once more, not having any ManUre, Chelski or Assernal players. Sorry to hear that SF, at least you have some warning so a) you can sabotage away to get back at their resizing asses and b) you can find a new one so you can seamlessly switch come december after a short holiday :)

SF, be sure to leave half a baloney sandwich under a file cabinet somewhere before you leave. It's kind of a tradition.

posted by Samsonov14 at 12:00 PM on October 29, 2003

Sammy, wouldn't a bag of dog poop inside the manager's desk be more fulfilling?

Start stealing stuff! Or try one of these sports-related job opps in the Bay Area: (worth at least a laugh) 1) Athletic director at Stanford, the school with the biggest sports endowment? (valued at $270mil. Notre Dame was 2nd with $130mil.) 2) Member of the Golden State Warriors' Fat Guy Dance Team? (name not yet finalized) 3) 49ers kicker?

You guys are a riot...thanks for the encouragement. I am not panicking yet...though we'll see what happens the closer the time comes.

I really think the way to go is gutting a fish and leaving the small pieces of entrails about in some carefully concealed locations in the office. ... in the backs of file cabinets, behind heavy pieces of furniture, inside a PC tower. :)

Whats a kipper?

posted by StarFucker at 12:06 AM on October 30, 2003

One of the worlds great delicacies, old chap. A discreetly placed bag of the frozen things will release it's appalling aroma slowly, but very, very, surely.

Oh man, those look good! Are they like sardines?

posted by StarFucker at 09:38 AM on October 30, 2003

They're smoked herrings.
