Week 2 EPL Fantasy League results (crappy table inside). Apparently, I was the highscorer this week because I dumped Friedel for Howard. I am still far down the table though as Mssrs. FB and SF still sit at the top.

Red Dragons manager comments: "My boys were less than satisfactory this week. We obviously have a lot to work on in training, a lot of kinks to work out. But we have a busy week of matches and I'm sure we'll come good. Sooner than later."

Unfortunately, that table doesn't give a true picture, as gameweek 3 doesn't finish till after tonight and tomorrows games. Had I known this I wouldn't have been so quick to change my team on Saturday night. Blues don't have a game, so I will lose out there. I expect all positions to change radically after tonight, when most of the games will be played.

Well, looks like my wholesale change did me well, even if it did cost me 24 points. It'll be a long haul, though, and I didn't have time to edit my team for week 3. We'll see what happens...

Personally I wish they'd remove the option to make more than the one transfer a week. I just can't resist tinkering with my team and I'm not convinced it's actually making it stronger.

WTF?!?! I don't follow how the week is over. Guess I need to pay attention to the fixtures page. 72 in week 2 only to follow with 1 freakin point in week 3? I didn't even know week 3 was over ;) bloody hell. I guess I am lucky to be in 3rd still.

Week 3 isn't over, unfortunately. Good advice to Squealy there wc2002, he should keep tinkering away. It hasn't done catfish any harm. Squealy, it isn't too late to join Yahoo, you can change your team as often as you like without getting penalised.

I appreciate the invite FB, especially seeing as I was so snarky when the Yahoo game was mooted here. However, I only have time to do one league and I really like the Premier League site. As a fellow bluenose, you of course have my support in the Yahoo League.

i guess weeks don't run Saturday to Friday or something? As in last saturday was part of week 2, this tuesday is part of week 3 and next saturday is part of week 4? didn't make any changes though, forgot about the midweek games and was thinking that 'fantasy game weeks' were co-ordinated with calendar weeks when the fantasy weeks are actually lined up with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc games for each team (it seems).
posted by gspm at 12:08 PM on August 26, 2003
For some reason, yahoo has called this week 3. In the past, all games from Sat-Fri were considered part of the same week. So, this Sat-Wed games should all have been week 2. But yahoo went and said, "Pick your team for week 3 by Sunday (Aug 24)", implying that these Mon-Wed games were part of week 3. And so, Week 4 would be this coming Sat and Sunday (any midweek games?). But please don't try to figure out yahoo. You will go insane.

taupe downplayed the significance of Bayern Mucus's lofty table position but remained effusive about his squad's performance early doors. "I'm absolutely delighted at the effort our boys have put in so far. We've had positive contributions literally all over the pitch," taupe said in post-match comments Tuesday. "Certainly it's a long season, and we'll lose position after tomorrow's games, but we've made our point and proven we can compete right up there with the big boys." Critics who sounded alarms at Bayern's light investment up front, rotating captaincy and "bizarre" 5-2-3 formation this gameweek have been silenced by the astonishing form of second-week signing Jason Euell, who has tallied thrice in two appearances for the Snots since replacing the injured Robbie Keane. The contributions of Euell, the midfield partnership of Brett Emerton and Muzzy Izzet, and an oft-bad, oft-brilliant defence have overachieving Bayern, for twenty-four hours at least, third in table and in the top decile overall. "Robbie's injury and the gameweek schedule have forced some tinkering with the squad's composition but ultimately it's not the manager who plays, it's the players and all of them, Jason especially, have responded so well," said taupe. "Midfield is solid and every week someone new has stepped up in defence -- David, Olof, and now Gareth have all thoroughly justified our faith in them. "We're not a fancied side but we have a tremendous work ethic and a real belief in each other, and it shows on the pitch and thankfully it's translated into results."

my condolences taupe. out of the three british teams playing in Champions League qualifications tonight it had to have been Rangers that had the toughest task to advance (playing on the road, needing a positive result) but it turns out that Newcastle is the team to fail. on penalty kicks. 4-3 after 7 kicks apiece. ouch.

Liverpool wankers once again could not manage a fecking goal! I'm thinking that if Owen does not get off his ass Saturday he goes on the block. Ruud, poor boy, just could not get face to the goal with theball all match and Wolves kept it surprisingly close, only giving up one very early and then shutting down the Manure Machine the rest of the way--without simply sitting back in a defensive shell, either, just that Camera could not get any bend into his shots and therefore Howard was not challenged even once.
