Good news skating appeal fans!! The ice dancing competition is fixed also.

It's difficult for spectators to see what's being evaluated, since there are no lifts or throws, as there are in pair skating, and the often outlandish costumes and melodramatic music overshadow the skaters' performances, critics say. Olympic ice dancing makes me want to cry. I don't mean to invalidate it as an activity or a competition...but, rather, as an Olympic sport (yes, I also question figure skating). If ice dancing is an Olympic sport, ballroom dancing--not to mention tap dancing and river dancing--should also be an Olympic sport.

Olympic lap dancing! They could hold the event at The Gold Club.

jacknose: no fear; it looks fairly certain that what they now call DanceSport will be in the 2008 Olympics. Yes, that sound is in fact the Greeks rolling over in their graves.

Call me a unilateralist xenophobe or whatnot, but I still prefer our traditional good old American cheating scandals to these newfangled Olympic ones. I mean, when there's been some college basketball point-fixing situation or fixed World Series games, at least the players get a few bucks and I know why it happened: filthy lucre. In the Olympics, the athletes don't even know what's going on and it's about some strange ice-dancing related national glory. Advantage: USA!

Since the first five places have been predetermined, should we award gold medals to all entrants or just places 6-25?
