Packer out, Kellogg in as CBS lead announcer : Billy Packer is out after 27 years as the lead college basketball analyst for CBS, making way for Clark Kellogg. "Like Billy Packer, Al McGuire or any of the most highly regarded broadcasters, Clark is an original voice with his own style and perspective." Will Kellogg's style be an upgrade over Packer's? Is this a good move for CBS?

I'm OK with this move. It's great for CK. Now he doesn't have to put up with the annoying schoolboy Seth Davis in the studio anymore. I wish we could all be free of Davis. I'm trying to get him a job as Mitt Romney's stunt double.

Brain had it right when he called Packer out for his homerism of Memphis. It was so obvious it bordered on a Vitale-like lovefest. Now if we can get the 'king of the catchphrase' Dickie V in a less exposed position, maybe college basketball can become more watchable on the major networks.

I for one think this is a great move for CBS. Packer has never been a favorite of mine, and his pretty clear homerism for Memphis in last year's title game was bothersome for me. On the other hand, i like Kellogg's calm and smooth delivery. He may not always have the most interesting content, but his tone conveys a level head and class. I'm excited for this move.
