A fun article about Yankee Stadium from a Boston Globe writer.: Some great moments from the most famous stadium in the world on the eve of its final All-Star game. My first trip to Yankee Stadium was the 1960 New York Giants vs Pittsburgh Steelers game. What was your first game or best memory?
Really nice article. All sports fans should stop and actually think about all the great sporting (and other) events that have taken place at Yankee Stadium to realize what is really coming to an end when the last pitch is thrown there. I'm sure the new stadium will be very nice, but it will never be the same. And I can't imagine watching a game there, looking out past the right-center bleachers, and not seeing the Bronx County Courthouse building hovering behind the stadium. So many great moments over decades and that building was a constant, from Gehrig's speech, to Maris' 61st, to Chambliss and Reggie, etc. Baseball fans who sat in the last row of the steeply sloping third tier may well boast that they broke all the altitude records short of those attained in an airplane." Walking down those upper-deck steps, for those of you who never had a chance to experience it, is interesting to say the least. I've witnessed the aftermath of more than one person who failed to navigate the ultra-steep slope of those steps and taken a vicious tumble.

We were there for the un-veiling of the renovated Statue of Liberty and were taking in all of the tourist attractions. As we drove by Yankee Stadium we were witness to a ragged unkempt man urinating against the wall of the stadium in broad daylight. We were momentarily stunned into silence until my 13 year old son said "must be a Red Sox fan".

We were momentarily stunned into silence until my 13 year old son said "must be a Red Sox fan". No doubt about it.

"Most famous stadium in the world"? You mean, "most famous baseball stadium in the world", surely?

Aside from the Coliseum in Rome, what stadium of any type is more famous than Yankee Stadium?

I remember Dale Berra playing in pinstripes. Oops I guess the writer meant Yogi. Oh yeah and that time the Beatles rocked that place in the 60's, nevermind that was at Shea. I've never been a Yankee fan but it was still a good article. I will bleed Cardinal red until the day I die
