Maybe thats the reason they are not winning. There are too many "I" s on the team and not enough "Us"s. When people start looking at their own personal accomplishments to justify the teams position, it is no longer a team. Just a bunch of individuals playing for themselves.

All this protecting of players, particularly QBs is due to the advanced protection the equiptment provides the players. The are so well padded and guarded, taped, masked, helmeted and gloved that they fancy themselves as human projectiles as the hurtle themselves into one another. They believe they are impregnable. Consequently injuries occur in spite of all this protection. If you want to cut down on the injuries and still have a rock'um,sock'um game, allyou have to do is take away halfof the protective gear they have and they will be alittle more careful how they toss themselves about.

The long term contract doesn't mean a damn thing. I am sure he Cubs have a buy out figure included somewhere in that contract that will allow them to get out at any time he becomes non-productive for a specified figure at something much less than the yearly figure appears to be. All in all I think it is a good move for the Cubs.

Well I am happy to see Mike Tyson become a whore. It's always nice to see someone stepping up in class and bettering himself.

When you play with fire you often get burned. This guy got what he probably was looking for.

When these guys sign on for big bucks there is a certain responsibilty he owes in return to the team, his teamates and the fans. A lot of these guys want the big bucks and the celebrity but they don't want the responsibilty. What happened here is unfortunate but the players must realize his responsibilities and accept them. In this case he chose not to, so he must pay the consequences. I have no pity for him.

Are they afraid the other schools will be better and thus force them to play at a higher standard?

His fate is fairly common in the boxing community. Very few boxers have come out of the ring with any substantial money or retirement fund. They are truly the men who believed in "Easy come, easy go"

I think we are going overboard with this "sensitivity" crap. I don't think anybody was hurt by these comments and if they were, too bad. People get their feelings hurt many times in many ways but they just "get over It" That's Life!!!

And not a word about George Mikan, the guy who showed the really big guys that they too could play the game.

I think this kid should invest in the stock market or go to Vegas. He should do some type of gambling while he is still hot. Getting two holes in one is LUCK in the highest degree.

I don't think he will catch Dan Marino if he comes back but he sure has a good shot at most interceptions. Some guys just never know when to quit!

He was a down to earth writer who really told it like it is whether it be baseball or politics. The best thing about him was: He was a great CUBS fan.

The Hoser's NFL Picks -- Week Three
I don't agree with half of what you say but I sure like the way you express your opinion. I'll take the Bears by two touchdowns.
