LeBron Chooses Miami: In a live national broadcast unlike any other in free agent history, LeBron James announced that he's chosen to join Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade and play for the Miami Heat. "As of now, the Heat must fill the roster with seven minimum-salary contracts," reports the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Danny Ferry resigns as GM of Cleveland Cavaliers: Following the elimination in the playoffs, the Cavs just seem to be routinely losing staff. One has to wonder how this will affect LeBron coming back to the Cavs at all.

Chicago man wears Packers tie to work, is promptly fired

Sounds like there is more to this story than a one-off tie wearing incident. I agree with NerfballPro too. There are plenty of ways to deal with inappropriate clothing at work.

John McCain Wants to Ban Ultimate Fighting

Ill cover the Not Very New Yearsy Of Me 7 days early to also add John McCain can eat a bowl of dicks then too. While singing Auld Lang Syne.

Seriously, that man is losing his marbles. MMA is a tough sport and has the proper safeguards in place for it to work.

I just wish MMA would institute a 'too long on the ground' rule. One where after a minute or so of no advantage wrestling with no tapout coming, the fighters would be set apart to start from a standing position.

Lebron Plays Race Card Over Decision Criticism

This guy just never stops. I guess he just can't take the lack of attention in the off-season. He has to generate more.

Florida Player Texts Girlfriend 'Time to Die Bitch'

FTA - Meyer has said in the past that he has daughters and therefore he does not tolerate crimes against women

Stupid line. Like you have to have daughters to abhor crimes against women, or anyone, for that matter.

Australian Cruiserweight Bout Sparks Fix Investigation

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about him walking to the locker room. Those fans were pretty riled up.

If he was going to throw the fight, at least he could have taken one good hit for it.

Chone Figgins Brawls in Dugout with Manager

From the video, it did look like a lack of effort to stop the ball. Certainly a lame throw, but Figgins didn't even make an effort to get over to the ball.

Blackhawks defeat Flyers 4 to 3, win Lord Stanley's Cup

so much booing

It is just Philly living up to its reputation as a, let's say, raucous place for sports.

SportsFilter: The Thursday Huddle

That ball looked way out. I was expecting something a lot closer. The ump looked like he was waiting for something to showboat with.

How does Barry Bonds hit a home run?

That's a great presentation. The commentary in the frame by frame is terrific to. Love the "holy grail" reference. Was this the hr that went something like 485 in the WS? (ps: bonus points for being dial-up friendly)

America loves redemption.

The New York Post reported that.... Ya know, Spree has his issues, but I have to question anything the NYPost reports. It is hardly an investigative news source. Remember, this is the same news source (not the same reporter though) that lit the flame about Mike Piazza's sexual orientation. Total troll, or at least, a flame bait newspaper. There is, of course, the fact that Spree has a heck of a temper. hmmmm
