Stiking Out With My Son: Here'a a great article written by Frank Gannon about a father who wants to turn his son on to the Great National Past Time. Nothing sensational here, just a nice "feel good" story about baseball. Note: some of us younger people read old folks magazines too.

Host of new rules for the 2005 NFL Season: It continues to amaze me how part time NFL officials can remember all the complicated rules which frequently change and be expected to accurately spot and call violations in blazing real time action.

OJ unplugged by 18 year old.: Here’s an interesting print and video interview of OJ. What’s interesting about it is not OJ’s answers so much as it is the interviewer, Graham Bensinger who is host of "The Graham Bensinger Show" on 1380 ESPN in St. Louis and Sportsradio 620. He’s only 18 years old! Hell, he’s not even old enough to drink!

There's Bias in Most Sports Reporting: Michael Lev, OC Register Sports Analyst, says that FSN did the right thing in reassigning Carolyn Hughes who allegedly had a personal relationship with Dodger pitcher Derek Lowe because it could have tainted her objectivity as a reporter. Give me a break! So called "sports news" is full of opinions and bias. That may not be totally repugnant, but let’s be honest about it.

Oakland, the best in the west?: After a mere 14 games since the All Star break, the A's have the best record in the majors. Barry Zito translates that into "the A's will win the AL west". I don't think so...

Barry Bonds an Angel?: At the end of his column today, Randy Youngman helps spread the rumor that Barry Bonds could become an Angel next season. I think I'll move!

Man impersonated Roethlisberger, St. Pierre to get dates : OK, this is pretty bad but how about the reverse? Would any of you guys date a woman who claims she's Anna Kournikova?

A Hockey Player's Apology: At least one hockey player has the guts to admit he was wrong and lay the blame where it belongs, on the all too powerful union. Now, the test will be how long it will take for hockey to recapture its lost fans.

The Angels Could Take It All: At the half way mark, it looks like the Angels could take it all this year. What other team can claim the following statistics: "The Angels rank third in the major leagues with a 3.55 earned-run average, third in the league with a .275 batting average and lead the major leagues with a .318 average with runners in scoring position. They've gone 13 games without committing an error and rank second in the league with a .986 fielding percentage."

Dodgers on road to nowhere: See, I told you guys. The Los Angeles Angels are the best Los Angeles team to play in Los Angeles.

Erstad Gets Dirty...: Darin Erstad, the Angel’s first baseman and only MLB player to ever win a gold glove in both the outfield and at first base, plays the game like it should be played, with passion. If Johnny Estrada wants to play in the "bigs", he should expect to get knocked on his ass whenever he blocks the plate. Unlike most other first basemen who usually chit chat with the opposing team’s players who land on their base, Erstad rarely if ever talks to other team players. I know about the boys needing to have their fun and all of that, but with today’s inflated ticket prices needed to support the player’s high salaries, I’d like to see more intensity and passion for the game like Erstad shows.

Guillen Talks Trash: Jose Guillen called Mike Scioscia a "piece of garbage"! How arrogant can he be? If any of us out here would have treated our bosses like Guillen treated Scioscia, we would have been summarily fired not just suspended.
