Stiking Out With My Son: Here'a a great article written by Frank Gannon about a father who wants to turn his son on to the Great National Past Time. Nothing sensational here, just a nice "feel good" story about baseball. Note: some of us younger people read old folks magazines too.

Hey daddi, isn't it nice for a change to have a topic which is not controversial and where there probably won't be any threats and name calling in the comments (if there are any)?

Good Story! Thanks! As a mom of 9 kids (yes, my very own team!) I can feel his pain! At least I have one kid that lives for baseball, and the baby is on her way! Gotta run, my son is yelling at me to come and watch the game! :-)

ny, wow, 9 kids! Congratulations! How do you ever find time to watch any baseball?

I lock the other kids in the closet! Not really, so don't call CPS! Since I write about baseball, it is part of my job to watch the games! I have a tv in almost every room, so I just plan my day around the game schedule, making sure that I will be in a room with a tv when it is game time! I also have a tv on the back porch, so I am able to watch games out there while I am doing yard work. Today I weeded my back flowerbeds while I watched the Yankees! When you really love something, you find the time for it. It's too bad for my kids that I love baseball more than them! Just joking!

ny, I can tell by your comments that you are a professional writer. (No offense intended to the other commenters on this board). Do you have a link to something you've written?

Thanks sands! The only current links to works that I have written are about charities, travel and crafts. If you think that you might want to read about some of that stuff, let me know and I'll send you the links. I am currently co-authoring a book with a former professional baseball player who was my favorite when I was 8 years old. It has really been a lot of fun! DH is getting tired of the baseball stories though, so I had to find another outlet. Glad I stumbled across Sports Filter! BTW - It's nice to 'meet' you!

ny, yes, I'd love the links and it's nice to 'meet' you too. Let me know when the book comes out so we can make sure the folks on this board are aware of it.

Sorry I didn't post sooner, but on Sundays the kids take over my computer. Here is a link to a charity article: I am involved with the group that I wrote about in that article, but I am currently working on moer articles about other organizations. This link is a hotel write-up that I did: I can e-mail you other works of mine if you are interested.
