Oops - I forgot to add that all the games will be shown on Fox Sports World in the US, just like last year.

Those "??" games are... July 29: Chelsea vs Roma (Heinz Field, Pittsburgh) Aug 2: Chelsea vs Milan (Lincoln Financial Field, Philly) Aug 3: AS Roma vs Liverpool (Giants Stadium, E. Rutherford) Full press release here. (Hopefully I'll be able to work some of these.)

Since I'm stuck in my own office and I usually listen to music in the afternoon, I decided to plunk down the $4.95 monthly for the UEFA Action Pass. I don't mean to sound like a pitchman, but getting live audio and being able to watch any match from this season's campaign is pretty damn good when all you catch on TV is one match per match week. Every so often you can get a snapshot of play from the Stamford Bridge webcam, which is where I'll be in just over 2 weeks! Woohoo!

I've missed seeing "Uni Watch" at the back of the Village Voice every couple of weeks (they've dropped their usual sports coverage entirely) and I've wondered if it appeared elsewhere. Thanks for finding it!

Um, they haven't even said who Adu is going to play for have they? Yes, they have. At the very least, that money is going to get people into the stadiums, so it might be a nice ROI for the MLS.

Right when the EPL season began, I moved from NJ to VA and didn't have constant internet access (or a job) for a bit. Hopefully I'll be a little more stable next year!

Great - seems like the fancy-shmancy FIFA page has frozen up and the Asia draw is finished. The Beeb is on Oceania now. Oh wait. FIFA's working again. Carry on...

Sorry - I should've said that it all starts at 17:00 CET [aka 16:00 GMT, 11:00 EST, NOW!]. It's been a while. ;)

I believe this is the story you were intending to link to? The goal he had against Juventus last night was amazing. He had a lot of supporters from both sides applauding in appreciation (including myself), at least from where I was sitting.

Wish I had that much money in me, WC. ;) That match is going to be at Giants Stadium in beautiful East Rutherford, NJ. I was a little late on the stick when tickets first went on sale, or I would've had much better seats. I'm not complaining, though. I've been to a few American football matches sitting in that same area and you can see the whole field just fine. I'm not even going to go into the fact that I could be going to the AC Milan v. Juventus Italian SuperCup just four days later and then would go to a function in NYC where I'd meet players for both teams, but I have to move to Virginia instead. Not one word.

I guess I'm going to have to retract my earlier statement - they're not going to be playing on FieldTurf after all. I was wondering why I was seeing so many slide tackles in Seattle. (Side note: I know this shouldn't be the forum for this, but one person in my group backed out and now I have one extra ticket to tomorrow's Man U v. Juventus match. The seat is located in Section 314, Row 26. I'm not looking to make money off this; all I'm looking for is to just cover the cost of the ticket. I know some of you wanted to go to the match and didn't have any tickets since it was sold out, so I'm just trying to give someone a chance. Just respond back to me in private.)

Woohoo! 107 and 9 first time out. (The only time I've watched cricket was when it was aired on Fox Sports World last year and even then I think they weren't even live - maybe they were "classic" matches, whatever those are considered to be.)

I can't wait for these matches. I'll be making a residence at Giants Stadium to watch Man U v. Juventus (my seats are waaaay up in the upper deck) and AC Milan v. Juventus (much better loge seating right on the 18). It's going to be interesting to see how they play on FieldTurf. A friend of mine alerted me about tix just after they went on sale and I just missed out on Man U v. Barcelona in Philly. I would've loved to have seen them in the new stadium, but them's the breaks.

I didn't say I was against it, SF! Just pointing out the difference between the FA Cup and Champions League and the chances of upsets, 'tis all. Trust me, I want to see the minnows put some fear into the the big clubs all the time, as well as getting some nice spending cash. I loved watching the smaller clubs when they would broadcast the FA Cup on Fox Sports World. In fact, I hope I get to see something like that when I go to Italy in April. I know that the tourneys are going to be too far advanced to see any of the smaller clubs, but there's always hope. (I wanted to start a thread asking what grounds are the best to visit in Europe, but I can't find an article about that. I know I saw one in FourFourTwo, but they don't usually publish their material online.)

That's why the third round of the FA Cup provides the best weekend in the football calendar: because on any given Saturday, you could have a piece of giant-killing to go down in history. True, but that's only a one-match round, where the Champions League is a home-and-home affair (non-group play, that is). I like seeing the giants get upset now and again, but the chances are much greater for an upset when you catch them on an off day rather than waking them up one round and then getting clobbered the next.

After reading FIFA's ranking procedures, I find it best not to think about how they're ranked at all. Yikers.

For me, I was able to grab a free ticket for Game 4 of the 1996 ALCS between the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. I was walking around the Inner Harbor and then decided to walk into one of the hotels and talk to the concierge. Budweiser was holding a party inside and it was just wrapping up. I asked if they had anything available and the host told me to come back in 5 minutes. There was a no-show, so he just offered me the ticket at no cost at all. No questions asked. The seat was in the lower deck just to the left of home plate. I've been a lifelong Yankee fan and this was the first post-season game of theirs that I ever attended. I was also the only Yank fan in the section, so I had to keep my enthusiasm in check for the sponsors. They win the game and I'm in heaven.

Turns out it was an assistant of Rick Majerus at Utah. This doesn't sound as subtle as it does stupid: Majerus said his assistant knew how much Majerus admired Chaney, but wasn't aware of the Owls' 6-12 record at the time of the last week's vote. East Coast bias in the West, perhaps? ;)
