Maybe they can make a trade - Philbin for Strahan.

"2. Play the Super Bowl on Saturday instead of Sunday."
Forget Randy Moss - this is the best comment I've seen in this thread. It's something my friends and I always talk about. It seems like a no-brainer. What's the NFL waiting for?

I don't usually comment here but I can't help it.... What an a**hole. He just lost all credibility with me (and hopefully everyone else). ESPN should not bring him back.

Great info. Now if we could just send that 8-9 year old back in time to win that bronze medal.

Wow, no comments on this yet. In an effort to get some answers maybe... I believe I understand how, genetically, where a person is from can affect his/her athletic ability. It makes sense to me that if ancestors are from an area where running long distances or lifting heavy loads are valued then there is an increased chance of a "modern" person also having those abilities.
As far as the gene pool being altered somewhat due to slave breeding... Is it even possible to affect the gene pool in the amount of time that the african slave trade was active?
Please, no one use the "racist" word on me. I'm looking for answers and not controversy. For the record, I'm a white guy who can jump a little, run a little - pretty much average athlete in general.

Tahoemoj, I think I misread the article. I assumed the ump wouldn't even give Martin the balls but now, I believe you are correct. Either way, what a chump move... does the ump get some thrill from throwing the ball to the pitcher??

I always thought a scuffed ball was an advantage for the pitcher (but maybe since these guys get new balls all of the time they no longer know how to use a "blemish" correctly).

Agreed, poorly written. I would have liked to hear more about how the bees invaded.
Have to agree, that story was not written very well but the bees were interesting.
Hmm, redundancy is somewhat therapeutic.

Maybe it's time for a new type of trophy?? Crystal and football really do not go together very well.

I think in the code of manhood it states that any time someone hits that region that an apology is always in order. Ouch.
Lastly, I thought "box" referred to a different gender's anatomy.

Holden, I think most St. Louis fans are happy and are looking forward to the season. Most everyone I speak with thinks the Cards did the right thing by not tying up that much money/time in the Pujols contract. Of course, you can't instantly replace Albert but most here feel that in a few years (maybe sooner) that the Angels will be wishing they had held back a little.
Also, one article on Colby Rasmus hardly constitutes trashing by the entire St. Louis area. In fact, I hardly hear Colby's name mentioned at all any more. We are passed it and don't really think about him. To be honest, I hope he does well in Toronto. I also hope Albert does well in Anaheim (excuse me, LA), unless he faces the Cards in the Series, of course.

Seems like a good reason to get a babysitter. I realize that Pritchard states "There was no risk of any rock fall" but it just sounds to me like she's asking for trouble. How much fun can the kid have sloshing around on her back?

Rcade, while I agree that it sounds easy to subtract a Theriot and make up that $3mill, I think the Cards did a good job of not getting too emotional about this. I'm a Cards fan, I would have loved to see Albert stay. However, I don't want to sacrifice our potential success in a few years because we got into a bidding war. Yes, the Cardinals probably aren't as good for the next 2 or 3 years as they would have been with Albert here but I think they will be in much better shape over the next 10 years by not tying up so much cash with an aging player.
I wish Albert luck. He did nothing wrong by taking the money (we would all love to make that much) and the Cards did nothing wrong by not matching the offer. We don't even know if he would stayed if they had matched it. Maybe he was just ready for a change. A lot of people have mentioned loyalty - that's a great concept and certainly has value. However, at the end of the day this is a job for Albert and I don't think too many people these days retire from the first company they worked for.

As a Cardinal fan, I don't see what all the fuss is about. I sure wish Colby well but it was time for him and the team to move on. He's had enough time to show that he can reach his potential here but it just wasn't happening. If he isn't tough enough to reach that potential just because he doesn't like his manager then TLR and Mozeliak did the right thing.
