Yerfatma: nice name by the way...I'm glad that you guys are a special discussion group. And that you enjoy each other's opinions. Have you ever played the game? or did you just watch it on tv one day and decide to coach your 5 year old's team because they needed volunteers? You know, they now have instructional books and videos if you want to become the next US head coach. You guys are lame and your discussion is weak. Lets' build more soccer specific stadiums so we have a nice place that will never sellout...ah duh!

Billsaysthis: you ever watch the ESPN commercials where the guy is talking out of his shiny red booty? that's you guys. I didn't realize this was a special board. You guys are "special" and it should be more like....bored! and not board.

None of you people sound like you know anything about soccer. I read this thread and you guys sound like a bunch of typical american thinking fans. The MLS is a joke and the last thing they need is more teams. They should just rename the league for what it is...a collegiate league. That's what it is. A bunch of college guys running around with no great talent and a bunch of wannabees. It's funny how these guys all want to play in the MLS until they get a chance to go overseas and play in a real league with world class players. All the top goalies go play there and so do the so-called best players for the US team. Donovan tried it and sat on the bench and came back to be the superstar in the MLS. Then the aging world known players who are past their peak come to the states to play, not because they want to make this league better. It's because they can milk the league for more money and not have to be in the best shape or skill level as they once were to compete. The MLS has too many college guys who think they're good players in this league. If the MLS wants to compete and be considered a top league, they need to bring in world class players who are at their professional peak and each team needs to be comprised of more than half with great players along with good european and south american coaches who know the game and skills needed to compete instead of some lame-ass college coaches with no high level experience...i.e. Bruce Arena, Bradley and etc... Look what happened to the Galaxy last night. Got beat 3-0 to the Mexican team,Tigres. Beckham isn't going to make them a better team. It's only going to make them a higher profile team and sell more jerseys. That's all. He's here because he is on the outs in his professional career and no one would pay him this kind of money at his age and especially with all his recent injuries. And within the next two years, his international career will end with England. He won't be on the squad for the next world cup. You guys ever actually watch an MLS game on TV? the whole game? it's freakn' painful. It's like watching a bunch of ten year olds kicking the ball. If one team has control and puts 3 passes together without losing the ball, it's a miracle. No wonder the American media and sports journalists hate this game. They look at some of the MLS games and think this will grow bigger than american Football, baseball and basketball? not with league and these players.

Let's all agree that Vick is a SCUMBAG! whether, black/white/purple etc.... still a SCUMBAG. It's just another asshole celebrity/athlete who doesn't have the common sense or morals to realize that they were given great opportunities in life to make a difference with their fame and fortune, but instead piss it away on stupid and arrogant choices in their lives. And let's face reality, a high powered asshole attorney that will make a fortune defending his client, will probably get a light slap on the wrist for Vick once everything is said and done. And after all is said and done Vick might be traded or released by the Falcons, yet he will still have his multi-millions and eventually be picked up by some other team either here in the NFL or the CFL.

Wouldn't the money better spent if they made sure all the linesmen had their eyes checked regularly and trained more on what an actual offsides is and not to watch the foward but when the ball is played to the foward....LOL

By the way, did I mention that Ray Hudson and his sidekick are a couple of morons? That and the horribly broken english speaking mexican commentator. This is the worst thing about watching the games on GOLTV. We the audience do not get to choose who we want to commentate and call the games but a few inept morons.

I agree that Tim Howard is a better player than Keller at this point and time. I don't understand the logic behind Bradley leaving Howard out of this tournament if he wants his younger players to gain some experience and grow as a team. Keller will not be on the US team three years from now. He has made statements that he is seeking a contract for another year or two at a top level team. I guess that means no MLS? .... just kidding. He did say top level league and not a college gloried league. I guess Bradley was doing him a favor and payback for years of service to allow Keller to play and showcase himself for any team out there that might be looking for a keeper. Urall Cloolis: I agree with you that Ben Olsen played good. He was too tired to finish the games. My previous comments stated that the US team played hard and on adrenaline being put on a stage with some higher quality teams. However, they don't have the skills to finish and don't have the energy to fight off better teams for 90+ minutes. I never look at the first half of any US game and say they will beat anyone. They always seem to play well in the first half against higher ranked teams. The second half is another ballgame. The better teams come out and play with adjustments to their game. Unfortunately, the US team doesn't have that luxury when you are limited on talent and player's experience.

I love how everyone jumps off the bangwagon as soon as the US Team gets brought back down to reality. Like I've been saying from day one, USA's team is built to beat all the third world countries who suck. The US team plays and qualifies in the CONCAF. Big freakn' deal. They play countries like, Trinidad and Tobago, Guatamala, Panama....I think you people get the point. If they had to play any good European or South American team, they would never qualify for the World Cup. Bob Bradley is no great coach, contrary to what Ray Hudson and his dumb-ass sidekick, Phil say. Ray Hudson is so freakn' annoying and he keeps changing his point of view on everyone as the game goes along. He spent the whole first half of the US's game praising them and saying how great they are and how brilliant Eddie Johnson is but he can't score and the US team can't beat a good team. They don't have the skills. They play on emotion and adrenaline, then they get tired. Then the world class teams beat the crap out of them. What's even funnier about Ray Hudson and his clown sidekick (doesn't know squat about the game and never played) is that they kept saying that the US team brought their C team. Their C team? give me a break. They were missing Beasley and Donovan. Donovan is the only decent player out of the two. Beasley has no skills to beat anyone or dribble past anyone. He and Donovan have quickness. As soon as you shut him down or force him into the corner (Coby Jones was famous doing this), you shut him down completey and their scoring chances are gone. What's even funnier is that most people seem not to realize that some of the better teams are missing their best players as well and they are playing good enough to win and move on. Yet, everyone and Bradly is making excuse for the teams poor performance. Ray Hudson mentioned that even though the C team is here and playing to gain some experience for the 2010 World Cup. Some of these guys won't be around in three years to play and what experience will they learn from....losing. Bruce Arena is a clown as well. He made a comment about how he built the team that Bradley took over. What a jerk. He gets axed and then he bad mouths the coach and team. Alot of people seem to forget that Bora made the US team contenders years ago and brought them back into the international spotlight when he coached, Lalas, Wynalda, Jones and the rest of them. Once he established a decent team, then he they replaced him with an american college coach. Yet Arena seems to forget how he took over someone else's hard work and success at building a foundation that has transformed in the US soccer we have today.

The Black hand....nice name! let me take a guess, you're ignorant and you've never played the game? Therefore you value billsaysthis' opinion and he's the expert on soccer. And no one stole my prom date. Another dumb comment on your part.

I guess no one is starting a new post about how great the US team is now. Talk about delusional? Where is the bandwagon now? Bradley tried to build up his excuse before they went to the Copa tournament by saying he is using the younger players. Watching the game last night, I couldn't help thinking that the two commentators for the match on GolTV were a couple of morons. They actually were praising how great the US team was and that have a chance at winning the game. First of all, the US team were lucky to get the PK. It was very, very questionable. And that was their only threat of the game. Second, the US players were playing on adrenaline and having been put on a great platform against a great team. Once that wore off and they got a bit tired, they couldn't rely on their SKILLS to keep up with a WORLD CLASS team, then it was over. The Argentines showcased a beautiful aray passes, touches and goals in the second half. Because that's when it counts at the end of the match when the final whistle blows and you look at the score.

Billsaysthis: thanks for the reply to my comment. I agree with you on the mexican crowd. They are die hard fans. Most of them would love to see their national team beat the US team. I watched some of the final. But I have to tell you that it is painful to watch. It's a little better to watch than the MLS though. But that's another blog, so we won't go there. As far as the Copa tournament goes, we'll see what happens. As you probably already know, it's not being taken seriously by some of the teams. Brazil has had big names drop out because they want the rest and need to take a break. I still think that the US won't go far at all. They don't have the skill to compete. Most of the players are young and in shape and that's all they have going for them. And that's it. And hopefully this time the refs won't allow players on the US team like Onyewu to take cheap shots at better players with his elbow flying antics to get the edge. Once players like that are disciplined by the ref, they are quickly brought down to play on skill alone and that's when they'll get in trouble. Donovan is the only decent player on the team. Beasley has speed and that's it. No skill and no strength. Reminds me of Coby in his prime. Once a defender cuts him off or send him toward the corner, he's done. Players like that who play in the MLS and get caught up with the hype that they are on the national team and they are great players then try and go overseas only to find out that they are mediocre players at best and don't get to play much or don't accomplish much. Then they run back to the MLS. Goalkeeping is another thing. They tend to do well. Maybe because they don't rely on their feet in a sport which is about feet.

US soccer is a joke! Canada should have been in the final. The refs made sure that it wasn't. Anyone that has played the game knows that sometimes one or two calls will have a definate outcome on the game. Most of the time you only have one or two good chances to beat a team. When you don't get the calls for your team, it takes some of the momentum out of it. And is it just me or is everyone else tired of watching USA and Mexico? That hasn't been anything thrilling to watch since the early 90's when it was new and Mexico actually had a decent team. USA never plays anyone tough or skilled. They always seem to play these third world countries in their brackets for any kind of tournaments. Unless it's the World Cup, then the USA falls apart and gets beat up by the skill and world class play of the real national teams. Canada was short changed because they are relative newcomers to this scene. These things seem to be fixed for the favorites. Afterall, they wouldn't sellout a US stadium to see Mexico and Canada.

I agree with the fine. First of all, the Superbowl is a revenue generating machine for the NFL and the TV network. This is common knowledge for the past few years. Everyone talks about how much the commercial spots cost and what the commercials will be. That's part of the superbowl hype. If these sponsors have to pay multi-million dollar fees to have their commercials run, then why would the NFL and the network allow a player or anyone else that gets his mug put on tv to adverise some company's name and product without permission. I guarantee that Urlacher got paid alot of money to do that. Let's be honest here, why would a highly profiled player wear a hat and t-shirt for vitaminwater? does he love it so much that he wants the world to share in his love of this product? ....NO! it's all about money and don't fool yourself into thinking it's anything less, or an oversight on the Urlacher. If the NFL fined him $100K for that, be assured that Urlacher and Vitaminwater knew that was going to happen and that he was paid a heck of a lot more. Where would one even get a hat and t-shirt for Vitaminwater? their product is hard to find as it is, nevertheless to buy their t-shirts and hats. And for all those who think that the commissioner is trying to show everyone he is in charge and that fining a player that much is wrong, You guys don't fully realize that this is and always will be a business. Employees don't make up their own rules and they don't tell the employer how to run the business.

Another example of how stupid US Soccer and the league is....Alexi Lalas as president of the LA Galaxy. He was instrumental in negotiating the Beckham deal. What a joke. Lalas was freak when he played and now is a franchise president. Also, Beckham who is past his prime and never was the elit of players in the world but was a poster boy for fame and celebrity is near his career and was benched before siging this huge deal. Another reason US Soccer is a joke. They give big salaries that they can't afford to aging over the hill european players but only pay their current players $60K. What a joke.

US soccer is a joke! It's like a college all-star game. They take the best conditioned college players and put them on the field. Landon Donovan is the only player out there with any decent skill. But not much after that. The reason he is comfortable playing in the states is because he is a star. If he goes elsewhere, he is mediocre at best. They always play in the lamest conference to qualify for any of the world cups. They play third world countries that suck. Mexico is their only competition and they don't go anywhere in any of the world cups either. That doesn't say much for the US. Last world cup the US team were so cocky. The problem with that is, you have to show up to play....and win! P.s. That Bruce Arena needs to be let go. His voice and commentating is horrible. Another fine example that the US don't know what talent is and give the job to a hack who put his time in.

James Oyebola's life support to be switched off.
Too many sick and twisted people in the world who want their 15 minutes of fame and do harm to people that are caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Who knows if it's jealousy or anger at celebrities who have more than them, but it's not right. And I agree with the other post that some of these people who use weapons as a way to make up for their shortcomings. These are weak and cowardly people who are the cancer in our society. Nowadays, you can't even look at someone without fear of a fight or confrontation taking place. Alot of people are on the edge and angry at the world.
