Kolzig-Less Capitals: Ollie the Goalie confirms he will not be returning to the Capitals next season. After posting a so-so record of 25-21-6 with a 2.91 goals-against this season, he was placed in a back up role after the Caps picked up Montreal goalie Cristobal Huet.
Well, I'm not going to bury Kolzig, but to praise him. Not only is he a class act all the way, I dare say he's the greatest Washingon Capital ever, and he's certainly the greatest hockey player ever born on the African continent. I truly hope he lands somewhere and has a Hasek-style last-gasp renaissance and helps someone win a Cup in an active-backup/leadership role. He deserves no less.

The Caps made a great move acquiring Huet. For what, a second round pick. When that deal happened at the deadline, Huet had much better numbers than Kolzig. Sorry to see Kolzig go but it's his time. (I was really hoping the Blues would've made that deal for Huet, to give Legace a little back up or even as split starters. But no, apparently we don't need a back up goalie.)
