Georges Laraque goes more than the extra mile: The rough-and-tumble tough guy from the Pittsburgh Penguins shows it isn't all about the fights and the spotlight.
Thanks for the article, wfrazejr. What is it with the hockey "tough" guys, they just seem to be all warm and fuzzy when they step off the ice. Tony Twist and Kelly Chase still live in St. Louis, so does Basil McRae. All three of those guys would beat your head in on the ice, then spend all their free time with kids and charities, and they still do. Awesome.

I can remember seeing him pass pizzas out to students waiting for tickets, and Passing out food at thanksgiving, in particular. But Debo is right, he is always in the news her in Pittsburgh for helping out the local charities. Get out the brooms WWGRD

Great story. Living in Pittsburgh, you always see big Georges on the news doing things like this with kids. Dont let the goon image fool you.He gives back more to the community then most athletes in the Burgh. He is a great guy all around and great to have on your team. In a relate story, Georges is doing a fundraiser for the local hospital. He is auctioning off Sean Avery's head. GO PENS
