- The Big Hurt is back in the Bay Area — and it's as if he never left -: Less than a week after being released by Toronto, Frank Thomas is back in Oakland.
As much as I detest Crybaby Thomas, this is a good move for Oakland, whose best offensive player this year has been... Bobby Crosby. They desperately need a power bat.

Great pick up by the A's. Now I can put Big Hurt back on my fantasy baseball roster.

It's a definite upgrade over Jack Cust, but they'll need a lot more than that to put them over the top. In fact, I agree with Mike Wilner's take, and am looking forward to an A's-Jays trade in the summer:
The A’s, despite the fact that they currently share first place in the West, are going nowhere this year, but bringing in Thomas shows fans that Beane is trying to ride the wave of the team’s hot start. Truth is, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he grabbed Thomas in order to cash in on the bounty he might bring back on July 31st. Who knows, maybe after Thomas heats up and the Athletics cool down, Frank will get traded back to the Blue Jays! Now THAT would be fun.

I really love this post. Has frank gotten a hit yet for the A's. More importantly has frank pissed anyone off yet in Oakland?

Somehow I knew my post the other day would bite me in the ass. Now if they could only get Ricky Henderson back, with Sweeney and Thomas they would become the Geriatric Musketeers. All kidding aside, to pick him up for the prorated league minimum, it may not have been a bad move.
