Hidden: Braves GM John Schuerholz Calling It Quits: The longest tenured general manager in Major League Baseball, Schuerholz is leaving the Atlanta Braves. He oversaw a team that won 14 consecutive division titles from 1991 to 2005 and the 1995 World Series. Schuerholz was a build-from-within GM, as described in a 2006 analysis of his career, and the last move of his tenure was to decide the team can't afford free-agent outfielder Andruw Jones.
Definitely. He and Billy Bean have had a great impact on the game.

John Schuerholz is stepping down as the Braves GM but is taking over the position of president for the very same organization so he's really not going anywhere. At least that's what I'm hearing but the press conference is at 3pm today.

I just heard that on a radio report too. Looks like the media got it wrong.

To sports fans going all the way is the only gauge used. But in the year to year running of a ballclub I think John Schuerholz was one of the games best. Remember how bad Braves baseball was before he got there.
