I'm not sure he is C material but why the hell not? Crosby is one of the few phenoms who is everything he's advertised as. Plus ,he turned a moribund franchise into a contender.( I coulda been a contendah).

He might be the youngest to be named to the C, but the story does not indicate that he will be the youngest to wear the C. Story indicates that Lecavalier began wearing the C during the season when he was a month older than Crosby is now. With new season not to start for several months (they're not even through with the current one), Crosby will be older than Lecavalier when he officially wears the C in competition. Ah, yes, you're right. It's not really accurate. But it's just good positive superstar pub. C'mon, they couldn't even manage to work it so a Playoff 3rd round elimination overtime would actually stay on the air. They're Muppets. They need the help.

I'm not sure he is C material but why the hell not? Not C material? Give me a break. This guy is a true leader and has the talent and numbers to say what ever he wants on the ice and in the locker room. C material!!(You heard what they said, it's suicide)

I just said that,PGHTOS because not every star can be the captain. For years,Mike Modano was Dallas' best player, but as captain he was a bust and gave it up.

the kid certainly has captain worthy numbers but i wonder, even with his great stats, will his word carry much weight with some of the older players on the team

What older players. I think the pens Average age is 15!! He is a young kid on a young team and is going to be that leader for years to come. May as well get him started now.

Crosby is not only the face of the Penguins, he's the face of the NHL. He should be Captain and in the spotlight. If he hits some potholes along the way, he's got Mario right there to help him through it. Good luck kid!!! Is that a penguin on the telly? INTERCOURSE THE PENGUIN!

Intercourse the penguin?! I say, WTF, mate?

It's just after eight o'clock, and time for the penguin on top of your television set to explode.

I know I'm new here, but if you're going to understand my sometimes questionable sense of humor, you'll need to watch way more Monty Python, and Bugs Bunny. Intercourse the penguin is a Monty Python reference.

Ah, gotcha. I enjoy that kind of humor, but my pop-culture IQ is about 5 so I miss a lot.

So, all in all, I think it's nothing, just another attempt by media to make Crosby the next Great One. And he does appear to have those type skills, so he doesn't really need the media's help.
