New life at the plate: Josh Hamilton, eight years removed from being baseball's first overall pick and after eight rehab stints, tries to resurrect his career with the Cincinnati Reds.
Anybody remember Steve Howe or Darryl Strawberry, as a recovering addict myself I know the importance of having "positive " people around you. If you for one second think that you are cured of this desease you will relapse. You can hang on for awile but eventually you will slip...... Good Luck to him no matter what he decides to do.........

Thanks for this one, fraze. This is the classic pattern of addictive behavior; addiction, partial recovery, relapse, finally hitting the bottom. Hamilton is very fortunate to have had people around him who stood by him but refused to be 'enablers'. It is also good that nobody is playing the 'blame game' here. Chances are that no one is at fault. I have some family members who have been through similar problems. Most are recovering (you are never cured), but they are a long way from being out of the woods. It sounds like Hamilton might just be on the right road. I'd love to see his name among the league leaders in batting this season.
