Kournikova two wins away from her first singles championship.: Can it be true? Ms K makes it into the semi-finals of the Shanghai Open, two matches away from the first singles title in her seven-year pro career. Can it happen? Will hell freeze over? Will monkeys fly out my asymptote? Commence picture linking and snarky comments.

Aw. She's not that bad. She's a fairly good doubles player anyway - it's just whether she can make the transmission to singles. I've no doubt she might win a few major tournaments, but will she ever win a major tournament (i.e. Wimbledon, US Open, French Open, or Australian Open)? Hmmm. Think I'll go looking for pictures anyway..... /BC

Still no title. She lost to Smashnova.

It is truly amazing. She has defeated Smashnova twice this year, and then falls relatively easily--6-3, 6-2. And she doesn't look too happy about it, either. It's getting to the point where it's not only comical, but one wonders if the world would be thrown out of balance if Miss K won a professional singles title.

BigC: Those were biiiig pictures. Thanks! something: Yes, I believe the poles would reverse and the sun burn out if Ms K were to win a singles title. I felt a slight disturbance in the force after she made it into the final.
