"Gordie and my old man on a Saturday night/Watchin' the Blackhawks and gettin' tight." Grievous Angels from their debut album "One Job Town" Purchased the "Howe" book for my son to read over the Christmas Break. He loves hockey and the Red Wings. (not my doing my Michigan Bride is to blame) Bobby Hull also wore #9 and I'm hoping to pass along to my son some sense of respect for the history of the game. It's nice to note that Havlat read Gretzky's books growing up and developed a respect for the sport that supplies his lively hood. Any additional hockey related recommended reading would be appreciated. Thanks

Aw, man, you did not just quote the Grievous Angels. And I would take Gordie's career over the Rocket's (or the Golden Jet's, or anyone this side of Wayne's) any day.

Bah humbug. Not the best #9, any one of them. Howe or Richard? There isn't a wrong answer.

Bah humbug. Not the best #9, any one of them. ... and he's also the star of a pretty damn good kid's book.

The animated short adapted from the book is very good too. Richard's individual playoffs records mean a lot to me. My opinion of Gordie Howe is tainted by the CBC movie Net Worth, which convincingly portrayed Ted Lindsay as a hero, and Howe, as, well, a wimp.

Hey, I used to have Hockey...Here's Howe as a kid! Neat. And props to these guys for bringing the myths of the heroes of the past forward. That sense of history was a big draw for me as a kid.
