The Hoser's NFL Picks, Week Nine: NFL picks that really miss a nice Moons Over My Hammy now and then.
The Colts are at New England. Hope you're right about that score though. For the first time since I've been watching closely as a Colts fan, I'm much more scared of the Patriots offense than their defense. This one could be a shootout.

Your locks continue to baffle me most weeks. The Raiders? A lock? Their offense is horrible, and if not for Big Ben's putrid performance last week they would have generated no points, because they generated no offense. The Seahawks are playing poorly, too, but a lock? Wow. Tough games.

By the way, the mention of draftsharks.com references the fact that The Hoser has been provisionally picked up by that fantasy football service. We were mailed to 35,000 subscribers last week, who responded positively, and hopefully we will become a weekly feature. By the way, we're not sure why we say we -- we just do.

Congratulations, I poke fun sometimes but always a great read. Seriously though, Oakland?

The Colts at my Patriots. Wow what a tough call here. Both Brady and Manning, the two best in the league I think, if both are playing their A games, this is a high scoring game. And I'm sure they are both going to be at their best. Colts are last against the run,and with Maroney and Dillon in the backfield, it could be a long night for the Colts defense. On the flip side of the coin, Manning could have a field day throwing against the Pats corners. But I'm sure Belichick will have a good game plan, especially for the Colts. The Colts finally won one here last year. I hope they continue their struggles here in Foxboro The Pats are playing alot better now than when they played Denver. I hope it don''t come down to being a 3 point game. I'd hate to see Vinatieri come in and tie or win it with a field goal. That would be like driving a stake through our hearts here in N.E Whatever the outcome is,it's going to be one of the best games to watch this year.

I am a big Pats fan but there is a nice balanced article by Michael Smith at ESPN about just that QB matchup

I'd hate to see Vinatieri come in and tie or win it with a field goal. That would be like driving a stake through our hearts here in N.E No it wouldn't. A stake through your heart, maybe, but for me, it would be Adam Vinatieri doing his job and making a field goal. No matter what the history, it's not some kind of personal affront when a player plays his part, even when it's against your team. Plus, no one in New England can say that Adam Vinatieri owes them anything. He did his job impeccably while he was here; now he's doing his job impeccably elsewhere. I don't know what else anyone would expect.

Having done some research at no benefit in trying to pick the LOTW and Trifecta in the past, this week I consulted Nancy Reagan, who suggested I paw through some goat entrails. That's how I came up with Oakland. Seriously, Seattle has Seneca Wallace in his second career start, the Seahawks have no running game of which to speak and it loks like the Raiders are finally buying into Art Shell's system. The Raiders may not win it, but I simply think the line is too big in that game.

hey, belatedly, congrats on getting picked up by draftsharks.com, hoser. I really look forward to reading each week's Hoser Picks, and as humorous as its drift is, it's helped me out more than once with my own fantasy team. (and I think you should keep saying "we", like you're Hoser and the Hosettes or something)

Oakland is the lock of the week? That is the lock to win? How about I throw a couple of other choices for "lock" of the week just in case you wanted to reconsider 'cuz its only Thursday and lock is such a strong word for a last place team that lost to SF by two TD's: 1. NYG (5-2) hosting HOU (2-5) 2. CHI (7-0) hosting MIA (1-6) 3. ATL (5-2) at DET (1-6) That said I agree with you 100% about Sage Rosenfels and the whole He-Man analogy
