Joe Niekro dies at the age of 61: Not as well know as his brother, Phil, Joe died of a brain aneurysm Friday.

I grew up in Wrigley field in the early to mid-60's,and had many chances to watch the Niekro brothers do their thing.They could beat you with their arms and with their bats as well.The tear in my eye reminds me well of their pitching-----Not a dry ball in the house. Bye Joe,I hope you are "safe at home"

I bet Joe had a chance to offer up many old stories the past week, what with the Kenny Rogers episode. RIP

I was at the game where they found the nail file in his back pocket, much ado about nothing, he routinely filed his nails in the dugout as it helped him control that wicked knuckleball. He will be sorely missed.
