Coaching, it's an important thing but after a glorious start: , Francois Pienaar, the coach of my Rugby side, Saracens is recieving some serious abuse from fans after a recent slump. He's not too inexperienced either (as some have said). What do you think about chucking out coaches with a couple of months left in the season?

Sorry I couldn't get the properly vitriolic 'pienaar must go' links but it's all BBS stuff on this messageboard and not permalinked (scroll to bottom). The Rivals site (where I take most of the links from) is a haven for sane fans. We haven't been too lucky with out opponents beating us up either. Oh, the old experienced coach thing? Since Rugby Union went professional seven years or so ago the game has changed so much that older coaches just don't have a chance tactically. But we definatly lack something. Can a team be sparked by a new coach or are more deep seated reforms needed?

I'm a strong believer in giving coaches time. Why should a coach develop youth or a long term strategy if he doesn't think he'll be around in two years time? This applies to all sports, not just rugby union. I don't think Pienaar has done too badly this season. Losing Castagnede for such a long time would hurt any team. I also like the rivals site for my team: West Brom.

Update: Pienaar will step down at thend of the current season. He left the club in a better situation than he found it and gave us some truly magical days along the way. Thanks Francois.
