I have long considererd Roy Keane to be a violent thug: and the linked article seems to agree, though the author suggests there is a general malaise of over competetiveness in the English game. I admired Keanes outburst against the prawn sandwich brigade and his ghost, Eamon Dunphy, interviewed in The Observer insists Keane is misrepresented in the media and that he is a sensitive and honest bloke. I still think he is a thug; the tackle on Haaland may well have ended his career. I hope he gets a long ban. I hope the legal system deals with him as they would anyone else who indulged in premeditated acts of extreme violence.

The tackle, though it looked awful, may not be the cause of Haaland's absence from the footballing scene.

I saw that story, Haalands lawyers must have been aware that the leg causing him problems is not the one that was kicked. I think they intend to argue it was the pressure on the knee that wasn't kicked, but resulted from the kick that has caused the problem. The point is that Keane has now admitted that he set out deliberately to cause him harm, his intention all along was to hurt his opponent. If you were walking up the street and someone just kicked you that person would be dealt with severely, regardless of the long term outcome of the injury. The same should apply to Keane. Don't forget that it all started after Keane took umbrage when he injured himself after another assault on Haaland. He is a dangerous individual. If someone like Robbie Savage had committed that offence I suspect there would be no mercy. Cantona suffered a long ban following his assault on a moron in the crowd, after he was sorely provoked and acting in the heat of the moment. Keane planned his assault and waited for his opportunity with malice aforethought. He should get along ban. Graham Taylor should stop swearing at his own fans too!

Yes you're right. Keane should be banned, regardless of the amount of injury caused. It's the intention that counts. Graham Taylor should stop swearing at his own fans too! Well, we're not actually fans of Graham Taylor really, merely fans of Aston Villa. The sooner Taylor goes, the better as far as I'm concerned.

I would be very happy to see Keane banned for life...the guy is a complete ass! He's not even that good...i mean, seriously...he has never impressed me..Beckham is better than him for Christ's sake...
