McCabe resigns with Leafs, loses composure at press conference: Defenseman Bryan McCabe signed a five-year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday, but perhaps more interesting was the revelation of his wife Roberta's serious medical issues and how the media blew her role in the delay of inking the contract well out of proportion.
I haven't followed the McCabe situation that closely... Did the press really go after his wife? I did a google news search and pulled up some things talking about her wanting to get back to Long Island, but it didn't seem overly nasty (as un-nasty as talking about someon's sick wife can be). Things i'm reading today say he should take some blame since he leaked the contract. Also, can't he get in touch with whomever is spouting this stuff and say, "Off the record..."? So I ask you LeafFites fill me in. Media overzealousness or player oversensitvity?

Media overzealousness or player oversensitvity? Is it about hockey? Is it in Toronto? 9 out of 10 times, it's the former.

And speaking of free agent d-men, Chara signed with the Bruins. I don't know why, but that shocked me when I first read it.
