Midnight Games: Baseball in Alaska.

Great post, YYM. I had never heard the Gutzon Borglum story before, and was inspired to dig a little. There's a little more here and here. (Admittedly cursory Google search -- I'm sure there's better stuff out there.) My only disappointment in the post is the totally unnecessary reference to That Stuff when mentioning That Guy. He played in Alaska. Just say it. Tiresome.

Great story. I read this a couple of days ago and I thought it was a good piece of work. Did Barry Bonds really play up there?

there's some video of the game on goldpanners web site. they also have an all-time roster list with pictures of guys that went on to play in the majors.
