Their plan will test the wisdom of this book, whose author discussed the issue tangentially during this discussion about this old book, which you should also read, if you're going to be managing and all. Seems like they're making an awful lot of "driver"s seats. Its a neat idea, it'll be interesting to see how the reality of it works out.

I do agree with the idea that "many" making the decisions over "a few" generally works out for the best. The only thing this really can't control is how involved the various participants will actually be. If they could select a large group of people to take part, and those people would really be into this process, pay attention to it, and take it seriously, the results would be extremely interesting. It would be pretty strange being a player on this team and not actually knowing who's pulling the strings that may impact your future. I'll be paying attention, though.
