Dave Righetti Gives Up #19 In Tribute To Rookie's Brother: Kevin Frandsen's late brother always loved Giants pitching coach Dave Righetti and long listed the left-hander as his favorite player. Both grew up in the South Bay in San Jose. Now that the infielder is back in the big leagues for a second stint with San Francisco, he is wearing Righetti's No. 19 jersey instead of the No. 8 that he wore earlier this month in his initial callup.

Anti Al Leiter...too funny and true! Rags is first class, and giving up #19 is cool. But I here Rags is now going to petition MLB so he can wear #5!

Righetti is one of the good guys. Frandsen is also one of those players who plays the game right, I'm sure Rags likes that about him alot.

Almost as heartwarming to me is that Rags took #46, the number of the Giants' undersung hero hurler Kirk Rueter. "Woody" -- nicknamed after the Toy Story character he resembles -- chose after #46 after Major League Baseball retired Jackie Robinson's #42. Rueter had the right to #42 until he retired, but didn't exercise it.
