The Saturday game: precursors modern day poker nights. An excellent story about a group of guys that started meetnig up on Saturdays in 1971 to play hoops.

I am in a regular game on Wednesday nights with a bunch of guys, and it sounds just like this game. I've only been there 2 1/2 years, but many have been going for 20-odd years. Most of them are in their 40s and there are a few 50-year olds, and I am always in awe, just hoping that I'm still doing the same when I get to their age.

That was a good article. Best thing I've read on the site in a long time. Treacley, but hell, I got the message.

Great article. It reminds of the game I used to play at Horace Mann in NY, where we had a 64 yo point guard who could thread the needle and drain 3s all day. Inspiration.

I play in a game very similar to this one in Eugene, A bunch of old guys (who incidentally run me up and down the court till I cant walk straight) who have been playing together for years on sunday evenings. It is a really cool phenomenon, and a cool thing to be a part of. Its a good story, (if not a bit long).
