Renault driver Giancarlo Fisichella leads a 1-2 finish at the Grand Prix of Malaysia for the first time in 24 years.: After the first race of the year in 2005, Giancarlo Fisichella was on top of the world. He had just won the first race of the year, and was leading the world championship. But the rest of that year went downhill. In last week’s race, the 32 year old Italian thought that it would begin again with the bad luck following a hydraulic problem. But Sunday in Malaysia, it all changed. A washout for Schumacher, too. Perhaps he's held on too long.

Nice article. It's nice to know someone around here likes F1. Not to shit on NASCAR, but I love the open wheels. Thanks , Mark.

Anything not on an oval is ok by me. I love the races in cities (To'nto, Long Beach, etc.).

Schumacher hasn't held out too long - he did move from 14th up to 6th, which isn't trivial in F1. Although it can be made to look so, by his teammate Massa flying from 21st to finish one spot further up, albeit on a different strategy. Perhaps the most interesting story to come out of Marinello this year though, will be Ferrari's attempts to make themselves out to be a poor little independent team, as the future of F1 seems to be set on the big manufacturer teams getting no money from the Ecclestone pot o' gold.
