US MEN Win Curling Bronze 8-6 over Britain: on the last shot in the 10th end for the first time in olympic history and the first in major compitition since 1978. Curling will be a sport on the rise in the future although it wont be anything like it is in Canada where it is second behind hockey. GO USA!!!

On a related note, Canada won gold for the first time later that same day, thanks to the take-out heard around the world, yet you don't see any Canuck screaming GO CANADA!! on the front page. Weird.

I have become fascinated with curling. It is like bowling, in Antarctica. Wonderful sport.

The words "triple raise take-out" have been echoing in my head all afternoon.

Well that's because they're *Canadians*, not to mention that isn't it pretty much a disappointment if the Canadians get anything less than the gold in curling? But man that triple takeout in the gold medal game by the Canadians was a thing of beauty.

I love Curling (must be the Canadian blood in me) and have been waiting for it to catch on more down here in the southland. I've checked and checked, but as far as I can tell there's not a single place to play here in L.A. Funny thing is there is a team in Phoenix AZ of all places. Might have to make the drive over there to have some fun. Lot's of people have made fun of the game in the past, but anyone I know who has tried it or taken a serious look at it gets bitten by the bug. Oh and rent "Men With Brooms" for the ultimate Curling flick! Great, though you may have to be Canadian to get some of the humor. I have it on tape and it cracks me up everytime I see it.

Good on the Americans for winning, Seriously, I did not expect them to medal, and they played smart and hung close in every game. But the Canadian Third, Nichols, may never have to pay for a drink again after that shot. In curling terms, that shot in the gold medal game of the Olympics was the equivalent of Reggie Jackson hitting all those consecutive homers in '77, or Messier getting a hat trick in the 3rd period of Game 6 in '94. And it wasn't just that one rock. He curled out of his mind all day, every shot. They all did, but him especially. (And there is a total of one curling rink in Manhattan, and it's at the Canadian Club of NY, which is just off Times Square, on something like the 5th floor of this office building. I haven't been; it's members-only.)

They even had a streaker. I'd love a clip of the ref taking him out. That said, congratulations to the US team. Neat to get a medal.
