Coolio, skydivedad! Thanks for posting this. I'd like to also direct your attention to the Locker Room, where we're putting together a bunch of SpoFites to provide "coverage" of the Torino Olympics. Take a look at this and see what you think. We'd really love to have a speedskating-knowledgeable person on board!!! (note: pantheon, if that was a bad self-promoting thing to do, please smack me and remove it)

p.s. I didn't know that Davis did long track, too. Has he always competed in both?

Here is the link I promised to the ISU Communication outlining the entry quotas for the countries qualifying Olympic Short Track Teams. Notice the entry quotas allowed for the leading countries. S. Korea, China, USA, Canada, Italy, Germany, Japan, Australia are fielding strong Mens and Womens Team and France has 5 entries in the Womens. Short Track is a volitile Sport and anything can and does happen. I think were going to see an incredible Olympic Competition.

llb Shani Davis was the 1st African American to qualify for the US Olympic Short Track Team, Dec 2001 Salt Lake City and is the Reining All Around Long Track World Champion, Feb 2005 Moscowand a fellow Chicagoan. He has outstanding accomplishments in both Disciplines. Here's his website link. As you can see he is an amazing Athlete of whom all Americans can be proud.

Prediction: everyone falls over on the last bend, and an unfancied Australian half a lap back cruises over for the gold. Whoops, sorry, that already happened! But the good thing about it was that it pissed off the Swiss - when for most of the Salt Lake City games we were ahead of them on the medal table. Heh heh.
