The LeBrons.: Totally viral marketing, but also entertaining, fairly creative and at least a little upfront about it's intentions. And in case it isn't obvious, these are commercials with sounds and stuff. Are there more out there? [via True Hoop]

I personally thought the ads were hilarious (saw them aired during the bengals game), but you're right, there wasn't a clear sign what was being sold.... maybe a retro shoe? or a couple different shoes? a street shoe? a customizable shoe even? Nike has the best sports ads by far, in my opinion.

What's being sold is not a shoe, but the idea of LeBron as the Next Jordan. If LeBron is going to become a multi-shoe-selling billion-dollar franchise like #23, this is how it's done, not one product at a time, but by adding "multiple" "dimensions" to his "public" "image." This is how it's done. Apparently.

Just a tad more research would have revealed to me that it isn't so viral afterall. Nike [warning: flash with more sounds and stuff] has page up already about it with all four of the TV spots. It's not clear though what they are advertising be it a new shoe or just the LeBron brand in general. [Further info found at YAYbasketball!.]
